You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Now that they are coming down in price they are looking like a real possibility for the commuter. Not sure if they'll ever make them in 26er size though!!
considered doing a ghetto conversion on my 700c wheels but i decided against it after doing a bit of online research. apparently its not a good idea due to the high tyre pressures used IIRC
Yes, this is my understanding too. The bead needs to be reinforced, apparently. I also found (when I tried it anyway haha) that it's harder to get them to seal- also because of the high pressure (I'm assuming!) 🙂
If you run discs then just fit 700c wheels...?
Good point. The main reasons are:
- I have Alfine rear and dynamo front hubs, so it's all about replacing rims rather than wheels for me
- 26er rims are silly cheap right now and I've just bought a pair(!) Merlin Cycles
- I don't want to have to replace my mudguards 🙂
