I have a n+1 problem and am looking to make some space at home.
My mum lives in Dartmouth and i'd love to have a bike here so I can ride when we come to visit (I live overseas). Unfortunately she lives in a small property and does not have any storage space.
Would anyone be willing to house my bike?
Bike is a well maintained Cotic soul MK3 with nice ish (xt) but old ish (2011) components.
Would ideally live in Dartmouth but nearby will do. We could come to a financial arrangement or shared use as long as it's well maintained
Probably a long shot but with a go...
Intrigued by this. I can't imagine you coming to a useful agreement with anyone, let alone putting that agréent into practice.
But I really hope you do. So to encourage potential suitors can you give a bit more info...
You're looking to pay someone that store it, or alternatively allow someone use it as their bike so long as you can use it when you're about?
Watching with interest
"You’re looking to pay someone that store it, or alternatively allow someone use it as their bike so long as you can use it when you’re about?"
Yes, that's exactly it.
I visit twice a year, 2-3 weeks in summer and 2 weeks at crimbo.
My folks live just outside the town, but are selling up and therefore not much help long term.
As you know, a lot of houses in Dartmouth are relatively limited in space (and I would assume any useful storage too); garages in the town are like hen's teeth. Out of town in the surrounding countryside, there are a number of farms, but not sure how happy you are with your Cotic stored in a barn/outbuilding.
Are there any clever storage options you could look at for your Mum's house (like hanging the bike off a wall, bike bag at the back of a cupboard etc? I am sure you have considered all options, but thought I would ask.

I did suspect this but thought that some of the properties further up the hill may have more useful storage space. I'm going to try my luck on the Dartmouth community Facebook page. According to my mum they are fairly active.

Wouldn't be that bothered if dry and secure but get the feeling they would not be.

It's politically sensitive as I had a nasty accident a couple of years ago and my Mum doesn't want to show support towards my 'suicidal' hobby especially with regards to my wife.
Save yourself the hassle and just hire a bike when you come over here. Will end up costing you a small fortune to store yours properly and the offer to have somebody look after / ride / maintain it will end in tears.
At least then you get to ride a newish and different bike every year.
Loads of boat storage yards round there. Sure one of them would take a few quid to store it.
