Hi ,

Does anyone know of any brands that sell frame sets that take 26 inch wheels ?

I'm looking to switch the parts of a 26 inch full susser that has had it .

I see the Surly Troll is available as as frame set but I cant seem to find any others and I am not in a good location for craigslist second hand stuff etc .

While Im here is it even possible to get 26 inch trail bike frames anymore ? I know of the Banshee Spitfire that can take 26 but that's all I know of .

Thanks ,

J

I think you can still get a Cotic (BFe perhaps?) to fit 26" wheels. I think otherwise, apart from the Surlys and jump bikes, that might be it. 26" specific forks might be problematic too, considering the crossover period of straight/OS steerer and 26/27.5 wheels.

I think NS bikes still do some 26er trail hardtails.

Curtis AM6? Spendy, admittedly.

There's always loads of hardly-used preloved frames out there for the taking. Or 27.5er + bigger-volume tyres on yr 26er wheels?

DMR Bolt?

I've got a Curtis XC120 for sale. 1 1/8" headtube but lots of T45 steel springiness and made in England.

Don’t need a 26 frame just use a 27.5. Not much difference

That, apart from a smidge more room for mud in the back!

I'd say it would make a difference, having run horzontal dropouts in the past I know full well what a 10mm tweak to the wheelbase does. That's going to feel long and not particularly lively.

Look for something second hand, there are loads of options on ebay and the classifieds. It's "unfashionable" so you're not going to break the bank to get something in great condition.

Sanderson Life (frame, not frameset).

Steel hardtail. Can't comment directly myself - but I have a Sanderson Breath which is a similar geometry and has been great.
