I'll try to avoid making this a stealth ad 🙂

What's the current view on 26" bikes - split and flog as parts on ebay or sell complete?

I'm thinking split as the bits that aren't 26" specific can then get their market value on ebay?

(eg one is a 26" Bandit - I think as parts I can get £500+ for it, selling it complete, cant see I'll get anywhere near that)

I'll be selling a Specialized Pitch 26" in a couple months and I'm gonna split that for parts after I previously came to the same conclusion as you. Got a monarch rc3+ debonair shock etc on that should help sustain my student overdraft a bit better than selling as a whole.

I decided to split my old Ragley Piglet. Takes a bit more effort, not entirely convinced I got any more for it than I would have done selling it complete. It's the postage costs that get you.

You'll always be better off splitting.  Plenty of us still have no wish to leave 26" and are always looking for parts - personally an EBB medium Chameleon frame, Hope Pro 2 Evo hub rear wheel and Fox 120 RLC Fit Fork!  😀

I'd say parts - my kids have pretty amazing 26" bikes due to the generosity of people on here selling decent bits at sensible prices, and quite a few other parents seem to be doing the same.

Still got a pair of XT wheels and carbon handlebars to stick on MrsMC's £300 Pinnacle Kauri!

Hmm the Bandit would make an awesome little trail bike for a teenager. I might forego a few quid if I thought a youngster would ride it into the ground in the woods/hills

Thanks for the advice, having thought about it while watching Paris-Roubaix, I decided to put it on here as a complete bike in case there is a future Sagan or Pidcock looking for a cheap trail bike that is mahoosive fun. If that doesn't work out, then I'll strip it down and sell the bits 🙂

So my XC bikes are relegated to “kid’s bike” status now...
