You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Got a few goals this year that I want to train for, I don't have the space to keep the bike / smart turbo setup permanently in the house. Time is in short supply too (new father).
Anyone tried any of those 240v camping 'power stations' (batter, charge-controller, inverter all-in-one), like this:

Want to get a bit of power to my garage - it's over a public road so I can't run an extension. 150Wh looks like it should be enough to power my Cyclops Magnus (68W) and fan (40W) for at least an hour.
Should do the job if you want something neat. If you don't mind a little bit of setting up then for about half that price you can buy a part used leisure battery and a 300w inverter giving you probably 10 times the capacity.
I hadn't thought to compare capacity, just assumed it would be better value buying all together as a unit. Buying new from Amazon I get can 600Wh battery, a 3.5A charger and a 600W inverter for ~£150.
Hmmn... food for thought!
Where on earth can you find a 600wh lithium battery on amazon for £150??
I expect it'll be lead acid. I paid £20 for mine. Slightly used but as new. A little over that capacity. Makes a great portable power supply. It is quite heavy but runs a huge amount of stuff, even power tools.
iirc some of the tacx smart trainers are self powered. And frankly in a garage you really don't need a fan.
When doing the 600Wh Vs 150Wh comparison remember that urban legend has it that you shouldn't run the lead acid battery below about 50% charge.
That is true although some bigger batteries do claim to be able to cope with deep discharge. Also the claimed Wh of some Chinese LIon batteries might be similar to the claimed lumens of the Chinese lights.
