I've looked and can't seem to find anything out there but does anyone know of a source for some half decent quality 24" disc compatible wheels for a 10 year old's bike. Just some Shimano Deore-esque hubs on rims that aren't built for dirt jumping and weigh as much as the moon...

We got a set of Stans Crest 24” rims as a Superstar wheel set back in the day.  We moved them on years ago as the boys grew but they were excellent wheels.

Tubless any old 24” tyres on them at the pressures children run too, giving another weight saving

Still seem to be available as wheels (though not necessarily from Superstar - mainly eBay) - not as cheap as I remember though.

Probably need to build your own.

WTB STi30 24" TCS Rim on the cub-scout.

Stan's crest were impossible to find in 24 for me in the UK and not cheap.

As above.. youll probably need to build you own..

Weve got a 24" Halo sub4 rim  (with a sturmey archer 3 speed hub) on our Tag-a-long..

it was light and hasnt come out of true since i built the wheel a few years ago... 🙂

I have Halo Sub4s on my trials bike, they're not tubeless which is a shame in this day and age but they built up well, seem strong, and weren't expensive. The finish scratches a bit easily though

I bought a set of 24" Crests on superstar hubs (135/QR) and then subsequently changed my mind and bought my son a whole bike which has different axle standards.

If you're interested in buying them from me I'd like to sell them, just I haven't got round to doing so (I'm not a regular seller of things generally). Do PM me. I haven't thought of a price but they should be good value. I bought them used but very tidy.

(apologies if this kind of response isn't the done thing - I think it's OK though isn't it?)

I have a pair of these, very impressed. I peeled the rim stickers off

£100 delivered (!)

Hubs are cartridge bearing so can easily be swapped for high quality ones when needed, freehub is the usual pawl setup. I think the freehub sealing may be the weak point and there will be little chance of getting spares but it has stood up well so far.

They look like a good option too wzzz! TBH, they're only going to be a stop gap until I put a set of 26" wheels in the frame when he's grown a touch...
