I'm putting together a list of 24" plus tyre bikes. These seem to be more sensible option for kids rather than a cheap heavy suspension fork. But there don't seem to be many about (and even fewer in colours that aren't variations on vomit). So far I've got:

- Trek Roscoe 24 - no longer made
- Vitus 24" plus
- Cannondale trail plus 24
- Scott Roxter 24

Cannondale kujo 24 - no longer made
Any others that you can think of?
not sure what size plus is exactly, but
specialized riprock (2.35).
scott scale\contssa (same bike?) (2.4)
scott roxter (2.6)
orbea mx24 (2.2)
orbea laufey (2.2)
the kujo is still for sale in some places (tredz)
merida matts (2.4)
commencal ramones (2.6)
its worth noting that the larger sizes make a significant difference to overall bike size. my 7 year old is on a riprock 20 which has something silly like 3" tyres - he's only really grown into it in the last year
commencal also sell their rigid 24 fork separately, so you could always drop that onto a bike of your choice along with a fatter tyre.
trek wahoo as well (pricy mind) - 2.4" tyres on that
just found the whyte 302 on the evans sale - 2.3" tyres
Cheers - plus size tyres are typically around 2.6". The idea being that the extra width of the tyre gives a suspension like quality, without all the unnecessary weight that an 8 year old doesn't need.
@5lab - do you have a link to the fork?
That might save buying a new bike. If I remember correctly I tried wider tyres on the current bike but didn't have enough clearance on the fork.
It's on the commencal website under frames.
It's worth noting that tyre is really proportionate to wheel size, so 3" on a kids bike is like a 5" fat bike, and you can't get the pressures low enough to work with only 25kg - we have a riprock 20 at the moment and the only way he reasonably uses the tyre is if I only put 3psi in it, which causes other issues.
So the reason I asked about size is cos for me, 2.3" and above is "plus" for a kid, you'll only need about 6 psi in it (based on 85kg me using 20psi in a 2.3" tyre, albeit on a larger wheel)

Electra Cruiser Fatti-O 24 X 3.0 Tyre Black
There seem to be a fair few options around depending on what you're after.
I've been impressed with the BMC Twostroke AL 24 that I bought for my eldest. Lovely lightweight alu frame. Big 2.4 Kenda tyres. Really nice spec contact points, drivetrain and brakes. Nice geo. So much so I've just got my youngest the AL 20.
Eldest is now on the cusp of being too big for it and needs to size up to 26. For which it looks like Whyte or Orange.
I'll no doubt put the AL 24 up for sale at some point in the near future if you're interested 🙂
