Got some stans 3.0 hubs on Alpha 340 rims. Quite happy with the hubs, but the rims have always been a pain in the arse. Every tyre is too tight, can’t set them up tubeless as the tape makes it even worse. Rim is too narrow to only tape the spoke holes in the centre, as the holes skim the tyre seat shelf. Getting any tyres to seat with tubes can only be done with silly high pressures and lots of soapy water. A puncture on the trail means a wobbly tyre til I get home.

Hence the search for new rims!

“Road” would be 32c and up. CX tyres and 2.0/2.1 nobbles. So maybe 60psi tops?

Need to be 24F/28r.

Something like 21mm - 25mm internal? Light and cheapish. I’m 72kgs and not a serial rim dinger.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Mavic All Roads? They're 24H and 23mm internal. The fully built ones come tubeless ready as well. I've squeezed a 30c tyre on mine.

Fully built only, though, and threaded eyelets in the rim?!

DT Swiss R470db fits the bill, I think. I've built a couple of sets of wheels with them - Seem good to me.

+1 on Kinlin XR31T - 30mm deep so plenty strong enough to work 24 spoke and probably won't find anything better for the money.

Cheers chaps. Think the DT was on the list last time I looked. Kinlin looks interesting, but

No love for the new Open Pro?

Could have mentioned it's for a disc wheel, be nice not to have a silver brake track.

Whichever Kinlin rims from The Cycle Clinic fits the bill. I got TL25s as I wanted something fairly tough but XR31s also fit the bill
