You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Can't wait to listen to the BBC commentators who have never seen a DH race before.
Acting like every rider on track has a shot at winning. Turning up the volume for every Brit. Trying to keep the hype alive to the end of every run even though someone was 3 seconds back at the final split.
Is there any way to see what/when the BBC are showing? Doesn't look great on the results google gives, https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b095szlg
Might need to take the normal approach - ask teenage son to find the stream somewhere. Longest it's taken in 2 minutes.
The BBC are frustratingly cagey about what they will be broadcasting live eh?
They're not gonna get much of an audience if nobody knows if and when they'll be showing it.

That sounds pretty similar to the Discovery commentators minus the volume for Brits. A least the BBC ones might not go on and on about Santa Cruz V10's.
Mods - can we try have one thread for all the Worlds chat? Can we make it this one!? (Maybe a title change?)
Anyway....
You know when you ride something really, really steep and terrifying, and yet on camera it looks tame?
Well this looks absolutely horrendous! Look at how quick the track drops away!
I rode Champery on my Lapierre Spicy back in 2012. At the time I was also a volunteer patroller at Nevis Range and was comfortable lapping the WC track repeatedly, so I thought I'd manage it fine... Champery was on another level! Sooooo steep.
And posting these here as inevitably this run will be mentioned multiple times over the weekend (or perhaps multiple times in one sentence by Ric), so you might as well rewatch them now:
Did you forget to mention the Enduro too, or does that come into the same category as ebikes and pumptrack?!?!
The Enduro WCs happened on Monday. Not that anyone knew about it.
They actually broadcast the final stage live, as you say its a shame nobody knew about it before it had been on
Live timing.

10.00am today for Qually for the junior female.
10.30 onwards for Junior male.
Racing is on tomorrow on Discovery+ (not checked iPlayer) 9.55am junior girls, going on until 1.20pm for the boys.
60 out of 75? So not at all like the World Cup where only 20 out of 80 odd get to ride the final.
That gives them a much better chance of showing what they can do!
rode Champery a few times, I mean 'rode'
it was a bit of a problem that it would take the best part of the day to get there from Morzine so usually we had time for 1 run then had to rush back. The first time was in 2010 and I could barely let my brakes go as I didn't know what horrors were round the corner. I had the Earthed 5 footage fresh in mind all the way down
second time in 2011 (only a month or two before the Danny Hart win I suppose) and I felt I knew the track better. Managed to link some sections together and kind of rode it.
In 2013, We were with some German guys who were desperate to find the lower section after the road due to its legendary status and 'look at the whip' etc.. It was easy to find albeit on private land. Looked at the jumps and step downs - no way. I wasn't confident racking up any speed on that hill at all.
I always heard that the 2011 track had been nerfed a bit since the 2007 WC. And it truly was nasty AF then
I guess we just have to see if we can find it on the iPlayer when the event is started.
Does anyone know where will be best to look in the app?
That Champery track is wild, I don't mind admitting I climb off and walk one particular section! Tyred Jr the younger killed his (admittedly already-on-the-way-out) Top Fuel on it a couple of years ago.
Danny Hart's run in the rain is one of the all time greatest, never get tired of seeing (and hearing) that.
Planning on recording it on Sunday for evening viewing, so media blackout essential.
Couldn't find this anywhere on iPlayer, anyone able to give me a clue? Not sure my ancient telly handles the red button thing, just brings up red button Teletext!
Not looked on BBC, but it's deffo on Discovery. Watched juniors yesterday and getting ready for finals this morning.
All I can find after much digging on the BBC iPlayer is this:

It looks like all they have is the XC next week, which is disappointing right now.
Please can someone tell me that I'm wrong!
After trawling pink bike comments it would appear no coverage on BBC if true.
I always try to watch world's, what's the cheapest route to doing so? 😭

You're right unfortunately, no Dh coverage at all on BBC by the look of it, not even highlights
I'm on Tiz 480p. Can't make the HD one work yet.
It's live on the UCI YouTube channel if you have a VPN and can find a country where it's available.
My free VPN doesn't give enough options.
I have travelled to Algeria in order to watch the YouTube coverage and it's working perfectly.
Watching tiz backup 480p without sound, which is a mixed blessing I suppose.
Video stream is solid and it's starting to look like Myriam's time is within reach.

Prefer the Saffa and the English geezer over Irish Rik.

YouTube link, please....!
I've nipped over to Singapore personally, worked spot on for women's race, the youtube link won't show on here without the vpn and I can't get on here with the vpn set to Singapore, there's a link to it in the comments at the bottom of Pinkbike results page
Its on TNT 1
Starting coverage at 12. Switching on and seeing Les Gets confused me no end there!
4 hours live coverage of the Great North Run on the Beeb though 🙄
I'm in New Zealand and it's showing "fine" (stable but that's at 360p)
They've just restarted after what weems to have been a long delay - crash retrieval I think
must be lots of folk trying the tiz cycling stream as its not working for any of the feeds.
UCI only give a **** about lycra clad doped up freaks
This is rubbish. Went out for a ride this morning. All planned to be back in time for the dh on the BBC. And nothing... what a load of shite.
Going to fix some gutters instead and read about it on pinkbike later.
The 2.5 minute "highlight" reel the UCI put up on Youtube last night got an immediate panning and was taken down within a couple of hours.
Gutted it wasn't on the BBC and couldn't find a feed anywhere.
DH broadcasting is a sh*tshow right now. **** the UCI

Well no, not really. It was full coverage of both Juniors and Elites, the same as each and every race. You just have to pay for it. The coverage is clear, crisp and drone footage is great. Some are not massive fans of Ric, but i don't mind him too much.
But the simple answer is... Why should it be free to air ? No other sports (generally these days) are. From cricket to Grand Tours, to Rugby and football, F1, MotoGP, there's a cost.. Why should DH be different ?
I'd possibly get the argument that World Champs maybe should be free... but i'd even debate that a bit.
what an incredible winning race from Goldstone. He really is on a different level at the moment.
Tahnee’s brilliant save from her near OTB incident was great
@Speeder That would've been the BBC's decision not to televise the race, not the UCI's.
Why don't you just watch the full race free of charge on the UCI YouTube channel with the aid of a vpn set to any of the countries that doesn't have an official broadcaster for the world champs ?
This under 3 min piece of crap is all I could find on YT. (I'm glad I didn't have to watch the whole thing with that commentary!)
by the way he talks in his course previews, he is so within his comfort zone going those speeds it is insane. No wonder he won
Thanks for the spoiler @suspendedanimation. 🙄 I came on here to find out how I could watch it.

What do you expect from the world champs thread?
The race was over 24 hours ago.
Apologies for the spoiler but a thread on a race is always going to be discussing the wining runs and highlights?
I haven't watched it yet but saw this morning that there's a Sleeper Shredit gone up on YouTube. Expect it's awesome as always. Will be watching later.

It's me that should apologise. Frustrations due to being away for the weekend and looking forward to watching it on the BBC when i.got home.. lo and behold they didn't show it and I didn't know where to see it.
The bmx world champs were on iplayer and no doubt the xc and road cycling worlds will be on it so why not the dh?
Apologies again

cool from me no apologies needed, it didn’t help there’s two threads basically the same now, and I thought there was one so posts are going on both.
even knowing the result it’s worth watching what you can wherever 👍
Tiz doesn't work for me on the laptop weirdly, get the audio just fine but no video? Works on the phone but the screens too small for me to bother with that.
So on to XC…
Hatherley and Pieterse both on the start lists as tradition dictates they must try to defend the jersey. 2 weeks before road worlds, which is on a hill climber’s course that should suit them both (and for hatherley likely the only African world champs of his career) do they really want to be there?
MVDP has put a bit more effort into mtb as he’s been targeting this event. Never rule out the best engine in cycling, but this was a technical course last year that could be his literal downfall, especially if wet. Have we got clarity on the start gridding rules after the farce in Scotland?
Easy money on Risvets after a dominant performance in les gets. Evie seems to find an extra few watts for worlds and is also good technically .
Not sure where VdP was, he was showing on both the XCC and SCO start lists, but didn't make the start. Or indeed where Charlie Aldgridge was for the race either as i thought he'd be a threat.
Gutted for Evie, she was looking good for at least P3.

I was very very wrong on this one - top ride from AH, despite having focused mainly on the road this year shows he can still come back and ride well on the mtb. I think he is only the 4th man to win it more than once, which puts him in high company.

nailed this one though. not quite as done and sealed as Les Gets but don't think you would have bet against her at any point after the first minute of the race. She didn't do too well in south america but has had an excellent summer. Is the WC overall still in reach for her to complete her trophy cabinet?
Or indeed where Charlie Aldgridge was for the race either as i thought he'd be a threat.
Charlie was ill so skipped the XCC and probably still affected for the XCO (21st).
Masterclasses by Jenny Rissveds / Alan Hatherley and a good scrap for the remaining places in the men's.
