Not sure if another thread has been created that covers the same topic. So apologies if there is but I couldn't find with a quick google.
So, what events or races have you entered or planning on entering this year?
This can be any discipline as long as it involves a bike, we don't discriminate here.
Dirty Reiver 200. A few of the glorious gravel events. Haydon 140 skyride. Potentially an xc race or two.
Was going to be the year I got back into audax, planned a few 100-150km events to build me back up to 200km, then have a crack at the local 300km Skeggy and back which has moved from its traditional April date to June this year.
Every chuffing local audax I'd got my eye on has now clashed with taking kids to or from uni, or music or gymnastics competitions, or one set of aging relatives or another needing something.
Bugger.
Never heard of Glorious Gravel before. Their events look a good distance for a day ride of around 100km. Their price looks competitive too for what you get. Shame they don't do any in Scotland.
Thanks for sharing.
You could just ride the Audax route on another day and submit your gpx file to get your recognition. I'm sure if you posted the date you have in mind on here then you'd get some other like minded folk wanting to come along.
Ukgravelco bluebell bonanza, Muck and macfest & grinduro
Joined Audax UK and rode Mr Pickwicks Spring Clean, 200KM [road] from Tewksbury through the Cotswolds last weekend in glorious sunshine. Really nice event. Plan to do several more Audax UK events including Drovers Roads and Vale Tracks 200km [gravel], Kidderminster Killer 200km [road] and A Rough Diamond 300km [road].
Got a few plans this year (and ticked a few of so far):
Solo road winter century on road bike (done on 7th Jan)
Half vEverest (done on 13th April)
Yorkshire 3 day ride - staying in YHA (end of May)
Mountain Mayhem (18th June)
Full vEverest (late in the year date TBD)
I also have a list of 10 road climbs in the UK that I want to tick of. I should do about 6 of them this year I think with planned holidays etc coinciding with the locations and sneaking away early so as not to miss too much of the family holiday! The list year includes the Struggle and Great Dun Fell.
That Gravimore event looks good, would like to do that. I was up that way last year with the family and took my Cross bike. The riding was great on 40mm tyres and drop bars.
That ukgravelco site looks great, I can see me spending the odd hour reading all those ride reports and reviews. Couldn't see any planned rides, any chance that rocketdog can help? Please. 🙂👍

Will be driving past you en route to the Coniston event, have booked camping nearby for the nights of Friday 1st and July 2nd, let me know if you want in 👍
Other than that, Oban Sportive weekend May 7th/8th. Might skip the Saturday hill climb for a bigger road or gravel route nearby, then ride the short event on the Sunday (my excuse is I don't like all the A-road on the long route 😉 )
Nothing major planned but I have entered a 40 mile gravel ride which has been organised by a local brewery as part of their mid-summer beer festival. First one since 2019 so really looking forward to it.
Brewery organised gravel event! Genius!
13thfloormonk, I'll have a think about the Coniston ride and let you know. Very tempted just need upper management approval.
You staying with your folks for the Oban ride? Would beat a midgie infested tent 😋

Yeah, would be great if you wanted to come up for the Sportive, could even do that Glen Kinglas gravel route as a warm up for the Saturday afternoon hill climb (omitting the hike-a-bike though...). No room chez Ezzi sadly, sister and I already gatecrashing a very full house! ☹️
Keep in touch about Coniston, plenty space in car! 👍
This one in May
this one in July
and maybe this one in August, if I can find a teammate who's not too fast and not too slow (stealth ad.)
Just looked at that Swiss race and it looks amazing. Took a bit of searching to see the cost and although on the surface looks expensive, you seem to get a lot for your money.
Would love to do something like that. I'm well jealous.
Says this years is unfortunately sold out.
Fairly tame gravel ride in North Norfolk. Not much climbing, or so I believe!

Bit of climbing in this one:

10,000 metres!
Based Annecy, France.
@didnthurt if you really want to do it this year I may be able to assist. I’m looking to either recruit a teammate or sell the whole entry. PM me if you want details.
Thanks for the offer, I'd love to take you up on this but there is no way I'd be able to justify it to the wife nor afford it.
The kids are due new bikes this year, being saving for these.
Thanks again and I hope you find a partner.
I've signed up for the glorious gravel Coniston ride in July. As well as riding the Lomond Trossachs loop in June (only three weeks to go!). Both with 13thfloormonk off here.
I've also signed up for the Scotduro (Badger Divide route) in September.
Longest ride so far this year was a north to south ride of the Fife Pilgrim Way in April. Which was fab, I'd happily do this again.
Hope I'll be ok, my numbers look decent but I'm not at the weight I wanted to be nor ridden as many longer rides as I'd intended. 🤞
Heaven Of The South is this Saturday and maybe Cotsduro later in the summer.
Doing a couple of 'larger' races this year...
Ard Rock Enduro
Megavalanche
Southern Enduro Champs
will do the SDW in a day at some point too.
From the Tour de la Resistance:
What’s included
Three day self-supported bike packing route on some of the best roads and trails in the area – fully mapped – route sent out as GPX 48 hours in advance
Two nights accommodation in mountain refuges
Welcome breakfast at Basecamp on day 1
Dinner and breakfasts in the refuges
Seems to be missing the point of self supported bikepacking.....
Sure it'll be great though - lovely area and the folks that run it seem 'top hole'
Dalby devil gravel ride this Sunday 60km
and then following Saturday , The Sundown 60 from a local brewery in the yorkshire wolds 🙂
How about a post event/race/ride review for the ones that have been completed. Or even ones where it all went wrong.
I ended up doing the Coniston Glorious Gravel ride with 13thfloormonk that was great despite the heavy rain the night before and showers during the ride (I managed to have sunburn whilst also being covered in mud and soaked through)
Me my boy had a great bivvy up the Pentlands hills (camping spot recommended by Scotroutes), he's super keen for more in 2023.
I rode the Pilgrims way across Fife which was class and will be doing it again next year.
Same as a gravel loop around North Berwick/Haddington. Seems to have become an annual thing having also ridden it in 2021.
I also tackled the Trossachs and Lomond 300km loop, I made an alternative route for the last 50km due to time constraints but still somehow managed to record 305km on the Garmin. Best bit was camping up near Arrochar, I got a fire going and had a few cans of local Lomond beer.
Lots of local rides as well riding new (to me) trails at Ballater, Aberfeldy, Dunkeld and Glentress.
I've signed up to the Rapha Festive 500km so I'll have to see how I get on.
Roll on (pun intended) 2023 and all the riding that it'll bring.
