Is there any way to tell if a pair of newly purchased lyrik ultimate are 2021 with the upgraded c1 seal head without dropping the lowers to check?
I've just put the serial number in to the rockshox site and it just says debonair, not debonair c1 like I expected it to.
Just want to make sure Ive got what I paid for
Try the RS trailhead apo - trying my serial number it says pike rct3 b2 and it lists the c1 kit in the upgrades (already done mine though)
Thanks, yes that's what I did. It was showing the c1 in the upgrade options. And not c1 on the fork spec list
I got a set of 2020 Pike select a few months back and when I stripped then down to change the air shaft they already had the new 2021 debonair air shaft fitted.
It's stands a good chance therefore that your lyriks already have it
Got the box still?
It tells you on the label with the model number.
I wouldn't feel short changed if they came with a B1 airshaft, didnt get on with the c1 at all, harsh off the top and was a step back from the b1.
Unscrew the air side foot nut, pull it out, if the threaded part in the lower leg is red its a C1, if its silver its not.
Thanks for that, will take the bolt out and check tomorrow. Yes still have the box but there's nothing obvious to say yes or no on the label, guess it's like a car vin, if you know what numbers stand for what it's easy to understand. But I don't!
I'm pretty sure that when the 2021 forks where announced the sram press release said 2021 forks would be C1
Surprising that a 2020 pike C1 as it would likely have been manufactured before C1 debonair had been announced

I was quite surprised too as I had already forked out forms new airshaft.
Imagine my surprise when the one I took out was identical to the one I was fitting 😀
Thanks for the tips, bolt removed and the foot nut thread is anodised red. So guess it's the C1. Strange how the trailhead info lists it in the upgrade options.
They could definitely add a few more nuggets of info on the trailhead, I'm not fond of the revamp website either, it's a bit awkward and user unfriendly. Much prefer the older version.
Having had both airsprings, a nice easy way to double check is to see how the fork sags. The B1 will have a slight 'dead spot' in the very first few mm as you extend the fork, or require a slight nudge to get it to extend fully. The C1 is completely smooth.
That was the main goal with the C1 as it makes customers believe they are getting all the travel advertised and it feels better in the showroom. The B1 is a little more sensitive at the start of the travel due to the relative bigger negative spring, but sinks into the first third of the travel more.
I actually preferred the C1 spring. I mainly ride steep handbuilt stuff and prefer the increase support it gives high up in the travel. Makes a noticeable difference in brake dive.
