Building up a new hardtail with 120mm forks. Found the following on CRC , seems good but last year's model:

https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/mobile/rockshox-pike-rct-forks-boost-2019/rp-prod171789

Looking for boost spacing, debonair and at least charger 2. Description says RC2 rather than RCT3 but has 3 position compression (open, pedal, firm!?)

Will I miss out on anything if I don't go for the 2020 Pike Select RC? This can be had for £550

RCT3 is a better damper than the Select RC. RC2 is better still but I doubt it’s that, I think that’s only an option on the latest Pikes.

Found a great deal on the new Pike ultimate but is has 36mm offset. The frame is designed for a 140mm fork and has a 67 degree HA - should be fine, right?

I wouldn’t worry too much about offset.

Hold on…

Ah, that one is very much about 29ers. Applies more generally though… yes, it makes a small difference, but nothing you would notice without back to back testing.

I deliberately put a short offset fork on my bike, despite it coming as standard with longer offset. I think it works better as long as the bike isn’t too short or steep.
