Here they are
If the XL has a reach of around 500mm I may be interested
Can't think of an advertisement which was / is more silly.
We talk here about a new bike - or?
This media crap is so extremely stupid! I used to like the YT bikes.
But this is too much. YT thinks we mtb bikers are a brainless bunch...??
Won't think about YT bikes any more. This is way too silly!
You wouldnt buy a YT because of one marketing video?
Right oh.
Couldn’t be arsed watching that
Young Talent not Old Bimblers 🙂
I think it's fantastic marketing with a very well done short film, and the new redesigned Capra looks swish too .Can't wait to see the details tomorrow .
Think the OP has completely missed the point behind this video!!! The very fact it has him ranting about it creating a thread means it’s served it’s purpose! It’s got me excited to see the close up detail of the 29 Capra! I mean proper excited...unless it has a stupid short reach and shocking BB standard!
And what point was that?
Makes a change from a bike doing skids around corners etc. The filming is great for a bike company.
I'd buy one! What a world we live in where a bike gets its own short to advertise it!
One of each wheelsize then? Interesting.
The YT company is located in 91301 Forchheim, Bavaria.
Nice town it seems:
But no silly vans and no silly goats there on the roads. No deserts around either. Some "Forchheim" maketing guy went nuts (or too much beer?).
The point being that it got people talking about the launch of the bike...the video is bizarre but it’s done it’s job! Certainly not a reason to NOT buy a bike though is it Alan
Of the last 50 or do German direct owners I’ve seen on the trails the split has been about 50/50 YT / Canyon. YT owners all seem to ride half the speed, with half the smile of the Canyon owners, despite the reviews. Small sample size but that impacts me way more than advertising 🙂
Eh?
And I thought the Jeffsy campaign was a bit weird........still, looking forward to seeing the geo on the 29er. Hopefully the reach on the XL is somewhere north of 475mm, and the seat tube under 500mm.
A reach longer than the seat tube would be a move in the right direction
Thanks for pointing that out russyh, would never of figured that out myself.

Won’t think about YT bikes any more. This is way too silly!
Have you missed all YT marketing ever? Their prerelease hype stuff has always been weird. Look back at all the goat stuff from the original Capra release, or the angry girlfriend stuff for Jeffsy.
I quite like the Brand. Didn’t buy a Capra, number of reasons for that but their marketing isn’t one; they do a good job versus others efforts. Though like Canyons’, when you get to a trail centre, they are the salted caramel or Ed Sheeran of the mountain bike World - bloody everywhere.
It' surely an improvement over the "we have a new bike, its longer and better blah blah blah" that is the norm in advertising? **** yeah make it weird, make it different. I reckon someone actually enjoyed their job making that video. That's got to be a good thing?
It’s a teaser campaign isn’t it, the official press launch is today...the 8th, the video is part of the build up and the reason they only show small clips of the bike. It’s weird as hell, done it’s job though. I applaud YT for doing something different to everyone else. I’m sure they will publish videos of someone hammering the bike smashing big air later this week!
If that type of video puts you off a brand, god knows what you do for a car!
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: 16px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; background-color: #eeeeee;">Thanks for pointing that out russyh, would never of figured that out myself.</span>
no problems, you obviously haven’t worked out how to use emojis or smiley to emphasise your sarcasism either... 🙂
@sillysilly:
that's difficult to check if the YT bikers are really half speed of the Canyon guys and that the YT biker ALL don't smile.
But o.k.. most of them don't smile. They are too ashamed of this advertisement and can't pedal any more...
Bit sad so!
YT website down for maintenance.
"DROPPING" as the shredheads say
Anyone else get irritated by bike hacks pretending to guess what these teasers are about when they almost certainly have the full deets under embargo already?
We're not ****ing stupid you know.
We’re not **** stupid you know.
Speak for your self matey!
I've had both canyon and YT bikes silliysilly, and haven't a clue what you're on about. The snobbery regarding both brands is as baffling as the inverse snobbery against the likes of SC and Yeti.
We’re not **** stupid you know
Some comments above prove otherwise... 🙂
Oh, hang on.
I think YT make brilliant bikes and have brilliant aftersales service. Admittedly I'd not wear one of their #doyouevendriftbro style t shirts but you can't have it all. I won't be buying a new Capra but my Tues DH 'rig' is superb. Direct sales is the future and they are great at it
@howsyourdad1:
Yes - good bikes for sure.
Possible as well: direct sales is the future. Not sure but very, very possible.
And: think these types of posts are fun as well. I mean these are no serious discussions about technical issues or so. Just having fun and making some noise...
For me: the style of YT advertisement doesn't really match the quality of their bikes. For me this advertisement is like for "poser" bikes. Bling, bling - Dubai stuff. In my opinion an marketing overkill.
The bikes are better than this...
But: taste is different.
This thread: most like the YT advertisement. I'am bit surprised so...
I can't be bothered to watch the video but interested in the new bikes. I'd have watched gwin or Andreu riding the tits off it though, perhaps they were busy.
Interested to see these and hear the reviews.
Though only as an observer as I finally bought a Radon Swoop last night.
@ehrob:
Congratulations !!!!
This is such a great bike !!! Swoop 170 ?
There is one Swoop 200 on our local downhill trail - this bike is simply crazy. But nothing if you like to pedal uphill...
Swoop 170: fantastic Enduro. Good buy!
Have fun.
Russyh - read beyond the A. of the person complaining about the video. You'll find different letters than the lanm
YT have always had adverts which caused debate anyway.
The whole range has stuck with the Shimano/E13 combo afaics.
The AL version looks pretty nice tbh.
I can't get through to the geometry page though.

Like this colour too:

@AlexSimon: thanks!
YT website still down for me...
Shimano/E13 combo: this is interesting!
No 1x12 so?
Recently lots of feedback with 1x12 issues. Would be interesting to know if YT picks Shimano/E13 due to commercial reasons or due to testing results using 1x12.
Just to be clear I was just posting a link to a vid.
Other details I got from the website before it went down again are:
They've got a flip-chip. Talks about adjusting BB-Drop.
They call the suspension Virtual 4 Link, but as far as I can tell it's a true 4-bar/Horst-Link/FSR
Price points are:
Carbon:
5199EUR
4299EUR
3699EUR
Al:
2999EUR
2499EUR
Top 2 models feature Fox shocks (36 forks). Everything else is Rockshox - can't tell if it's Pike or Lyric, but given the fox 36ers, I'm assuming Lyric.
<span style="color: #444444; font-size: 12px;"> when you get to a trail centre, they are the salted caramel or Ed Sheeran of the mountain bike World – bloody everywhere.</span>
probably because it is hard to beat the value for money they offer
Alu one is a better looking frame, perhaps its the colour, than the carbon one - the carbon one looks a bit Ibis MOJO
The 29 CF looks good!
All the info is up on Pinkbike.
The have made it a really big bike now.
@alanm: yes - thanks! Great thread!
I love this type of stuff - but some get really mad. I like to bitch about such advertisement hype and still enjoy the fuss.
Haha
Cheers!

pinkbike has the latest

Super enduro plus madness, You can run a triple crown fork on them but not have a bottle cage.
XXL size, 500 reach, 490 st. Just like the game of thrones writers they're listening to the keyboard warriors
Blimey 170mm 29er! That's a lot of travel!
Large still looks a little short at 615? Hard to see as the site is slow on my phone.
Even the cheapest heaviest model is only 31.7lb. Pretty good going for a Aluminium 160mm 29er
Bit underwhelmed TBH. I was thinking the Capra might make my enduro bike shortlist and was looking forward to seeing the new bike. Other than the blood red colour the 29 CF Pro is a little disappointing. For just under £4k you get Fox performance forks and shock and 1x11 with the e13 cassette which is about twice the price of the GX eagle cassette. So something you have to replace fairly regularly. Looks like it still has the pressfit BB too.
I have a feeling we will see a lot of 29er 170mm shred sleds round the back of nationwide in Swindon. that's a lot of of travel for bimbling

Absolutely right....Alan Apologies, you were the OP I was referring to Andrea's comments....
Deepest apologies as all you had done was post the bloody link....Sorry
Think the 29er is only 170mm in the pro race version. The 27s are all 170mm
<div class="bbp-reply-author" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; border-width: 0px 0px 1px; border-image: initial; outline: 0px; font-size: 12px; vertical-align: baseline; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; display: flex; justify-content: flex-start; float: none; text-align: center; width: unset; color: #444444; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; border-color: initial initial #cccccc initial; border-style: initial initial dotted initial;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-size: unset;">Even the cheapest heaviest model is only 31.7lb. Id say that was a fairly amazing weight, if true
180mm, blooming heck.
I try not to get too hung up on the travel, but that’s an awful lot, I’m sure they’ll sell loads, but I can’t think of many places where that sort of travel wouldn’t be a bit of a fun killer that don’t have a lift network where you might at well go full retard with a Tues.
Jeffsy still looks the better bike to me.
Fairly conservative middle of the road geometry, plenty of travel. I'm sure they will sell loads.
The sizing difference between the carbon and alloy frames is odd. It's as if they had the carbon moulds made then decided to go a bit longer.
Disappointed there is no higher spec AL bikes too.
I'd rather have an aluminium frame and Fox elite suspension than a CF frame with the performance versions.
The best bargain looks to be the base model 29er, £2.2k with a lyrik and super-deluxe, code brakes and a dropper.
The 9-46 cassette range is plenty and the SLX transmission may be more reliable than Eagle.
Personally I'd have liked to see longer chainstays (or a flip chip), but otherwise there's not much to moan about really.
The Capra 29 CF is 160 front and rear travel from what i can see? 650b is 170/170 guess the race is slightly longer. Reach figure looks OK... looks like a price hike as well of around £500 still pretty good value at £3300 for the CF model. Still looks like too much bike certainly for me anyway
Very good write-up by Mick Kirkman on Dirt...
https://dirtmountainbike.com/bike-reviews/trail-enduro-bikes/fast-bikes-yt-industries-capra.html
I wonder whether the niggles he has with the 29er might be partly to do with the BB height. Looked a bit high on the geo chart.
"I can’t be bothered to watch the video but interested in the new bikes. I’d have watched gwin or Andreu riding the tits off it though, perhaps they were busy."
Exactly.
Watched the first two minutes of the video… got bored… moved on. Good looking bikes as always… but the photos told me that…
No probs Russyh, glad I got a 29er Jeffsy instead of waiting for the Capra, far to much travel for me.
How would you fit a bottle in and have a shock that long?
You can't fit a bottle in a Capra, well I couldn't anyway.
@alanm, @russyh:
all fine. I understand the post from russyh now. Yes - I was the guy who was ranting...- not alanm...
Hope I didn't hurt any feelings so. Like the bikes and don't like the advertisement. But that's history now - the spec is out...
Cheers!
Alan, i just sold my jeffsy, To be honest if i had not of just blown my wad on a hightower i would be all over the mid spec Capra right up 29er 160 front and rear.....until i noticed there was no bottle mount. Probably too much bike for me i guess.
@chiefgrooveguru - its not that big a shock. Same size we run on the 145/145 LT/AM9. Probably helps if you don't stick it right in the middle of the front triangle though.
Does everyone here ride with a bottle? I occasionally do but I'd say 90% of riders I meet don't even have a bottle cage mounted.
I think the 29er looks good.
I would for all-day summer epics - especially remote ones, because I use a filter bottle to save on carrying loads.Does everyone here ride with a bottle? I occasionally do but I’d say 90% of riders I meet don’t even have a bottle cage mounted.
@benpinnick It’s the same size as your flock on the 29 but the 27.5 is a 250x75 or 70
Ha! Fair enough that ones a beastie.
Not a friend at all of the YT media crap.
But appears like the YT engineers did a wonderful Job. The important reviewers all got 2018 Capra bikes to test ride in the mountains of Portugal. The reviews were published yesterday. Read a couple of them ... the only issue they found: the bottle thing.
Well - and beside of that: they are all heavily impressed! If these reviews are right the 2018 Capra will be a hot seller and will put the competition under lots of pressure. Pricing: in some of the reviews they state that YT stays with the Capra at least 25 % under the price tag of the bigger brands - and more so with the high end versions.
The 170 mm or more travel range (and this strange YT advertisement hype) is nothing for me - but sounds that some will have incredible fun with these bikes. Entry at a bit over 2 k ? That's great!
So after my bitching I went for a Capra 27 AL which arrived this afternoon.
Looking forward to the first proper ride Tuesday.
