I can't see that anyone else has started one (save the e-bike moan thread).

Entries tonight at 6. I was all signed up for another year but then I notice the prices this year. Nearly £40 for the race incl. Booking fee, plus camping fees (£10 per vehicle + £7.50 per adult). Costs are increasing year on year and I'm not entirely sure what you get for it.

I'll see how I'm feeling come 6. Who else is in?

I’m in, first time since 2009. I had entered one time since but illness forced me out. I live quite local so dont need the camping.

I’ve just entered too. Not ridden it since 2010. Should be good

Oooh, almost forgot about it, but this reminded me so have just booked my ticket. Hopefully I'll get all the way round without spannering myself this time...

I’m in. Again. Got email with an early bird code so booked on Thursday last week. Got 3 or 4 comedy gigs booked too. If you take it as a whole. About £100 for a marshalled ride/race ,camping and entertainment it’s a fairly cheap bank holiday weekend?. I don’t include cost of beer cos I don’t drink.

Got an early bird code too, so be in since Wednesday. For me its a challenge and something to aim for after spending a big chunk of 16/17 unable to ride due to various things.

I'm in again, i enjoyed it last year in the dry and the comedy festival is cool. £58.37 plus food is not bad for 3 days of bank holiday fun.

I guess you need to decide whether you want a weekend out of it, or just an event to focus on. As said above, I'm glad I've now got something to prepare for - I need something to focus on. It's a really good blend of climbing fitness and DH ability, and endurance given the length.
I've only ridden once before (2016) and thoroughly enjoyed the course/race. But as I only turned up the evening before, didn't go out that night, and packed up and left straight after the race, it didn't quite seem worth £50 to do a single event. But at least it's 3 hours + of hammering yourself on your bike with reasonably good DH sections (slate gullies - yumm!). You can pay as much for a round of one of the UK enduro series events and only get about 15 minutes riding.

“It's a really good blend of climbing fitness and DH ability”

Except you queue for the downhills and they’re rammed with mincers.

You need more climbing fitness then and you'll get there when there isn't a queue 😉

Or terrible hill fitness works well too. Its nice at the back.

haha, I actually agree with all 3 of the last replies !!!

I'll see what my 'team mates' want to do this year, as we could try to get near the front of the start crowd and try to keep near the front to avoid that first big queue, as it can easily make a difference of more than 10 minutes. But we'll probably just be faffing about on the campsite and end up starting at the back again 😉 At least then there's the fun of constantly overtaking people for the next 2 hours....
