Has anyone run the Tarn as a 29er rather than 27.5+? I am wondering if the extra BB height ruins the ride.

What tyre widths are we talking? 27,5x3 is pretty much the same as 29x2.2 in diameter, so no difference in BB height.

I have a 2017 Tarn. I ran it with 29 x 2.3 tyres and a 140mm fork and the BB was a little high for my ideal, but still a great ride. BB height was better with 27.5 x 2.8, which was also great but not really a mud and slop bike. I now run it with 29 x 2.4 in the front, 27.5 x 2.6 in the rear and it feels best of all for the overall feel of things, haven't tried that all year round yet though.

All tyre sizes nominal so take with a pinch.

I prefer the BB a touch higher than stock - mine has been 27.5x2.8 rear and 29x3.0 with the rigid Carbon fork for a few years now.

All a matter of preferences, but a BB drop of 55mm shouldn’t give you a high BB unless you run huge volume tyres and a long stroke fork (stock was 120).

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES. Interesting 96er idea.
