got mine on saturday - ready for my black dark and scary B&C road 50km commute tomorrow - replaces my venerable Vision 4.
I went for the 1x4 ES battery cell.
Other than the new battery it's the same as the previous version. Been very happy with mine.
Nearly bought one..looks lovely and will have Hope's usual great back-up
In the end I decided to go with a Lumicycle Explorer.
I dont regret it...absolutly stunning light.
What ever you choose..good move going premium.
i also have a SSX2 which probably outperforms the R4 but the battery pack, back u p and cost of a proper mtb battery puts me off relying on it for commuting.
my old vision 4 still works after 5 years, battery holds charge as it did as new and never failed.
the only issue with the R4 is the smaler size and higher output generates more body heat and the light definitely runs hot !!!!!!
Same light, new "test" battery. Only thing with them is that when the battery is strapped to ur frame, or rear of helmet (2 cell) then you can`t press the test button....or even see it on the back of ur helmet!.
Just got mine yesterday, with the "ordinary" 2 cell battrey.... 😛
