Hiya

Usual post from a newbie I expect, but, I have a 2015 Anthem 1 with a few mods (120mm Fox 32 fork, dual lockout switch, 60mm stem, 750mm bars, 180mm front rotar, 100mm dropper).

My riding is half and half of XC and the local bike park couple (4 cross, dual slalom, DH, pump track etc). In the summer I’m likely to be doing a couple of trips to bike parks in Wales.

I’ve been looking at a 2016 Whye t130 and have been wondering whether to sell my giant to get one. Like most I can’t afford to keep both bikes. I appreciate one is more XC and the other is more trail.

Would I be totally disadvantaged with one or the other? Am I looking at greener grass? Any thoughts (it’s a lot of money to play with)?

I think that year has the really tight tyre clearance on the back. Also felt quite a bit heavier than the Anthem.
I bought the Anthem .

The one on offer is the one with the Yari fork.

So I think it’s actually the 2017 model with wider chainstays??

Anthem was light.... it was nice...

Whyte is 'better' IMO at trail centres, inspires more confidence in handling etc.

If i was going purely XC, then i'd go Anthem, i rekon it will be quicker.. If i wanted some more techy stuff, i think you'll enjoy the T130

4 cross, dual slalom, DH...... you will break the Anthem. Get the Whyte.

I liked my Anthem, it was a quick bike, I still have some PB's on it. After my first trip to BPW I bought longer, lower, slacker, longer travel trail bike. Much more confident going down steep or tech stuff, or landing drops and jumps (badly) For 4 cross, dual slalom, DH, BPW etc I'd take the T130 any day of the week. Still good for XC, unless you're at the sharp end of racing?

I only get out at the weekends and probably do 50/50 XC and bike park. My DH aren’t particularly tough but I’m swaying towards the idea that the t130 will cope with it all better whilst not being terrible at XC to keep up with some mates that strictly just do receeational XC (certainly not competition standard).
