Just picked up a pair of 2014 Specialized Rime Shoes & reasonably priced, I'm heading to Torridon for a week early June & thought they might be better than my normal shoes for the Hike a Bike in the mountains.
Any one got them? feed back appreciated.

Cheers

surely that depends on what you usual shoes are? if they are flip flops then I would say the rimes are better.

If they're 45's I'll have 'em cheap, they're crap BTW 😀

My knees didnt like mine at all when on long rides, and they probably kept niggling my knees on shorter rides too.
Theres something to do with the specialized sole angling your feet differently to other shoes, search for body geometry varus correction for a proper explanation.
I got the body geometry shim kit to try and get them fitting a bit better but havent done enough miles yet to see if theyre better.

I used my Tahoe Sports when I hike a biked around torridon*, when on a Scotland roadtrip (inc. Ben Lomond/Fort Bill), they use the same vibram sole as the rime. A shame Spesh UK no longer bring them in
Have used them hike-a-biking around the lake district**, and have since buying a dh bike, use them for pushing up/downhilling***

*loch/ben damph, annat-coire lair-achnashellach-coulags-annat, coire dubh mor push up the descent
**Sticks pass (W->E), rooking-boredale hause, Nan Bield clockwise,
As a newbie downhiller

Walking wise, maybe the best SPD shoe to walk in I've used (have used original Tahoe's*, and 'normal' nylon/carbon spesh shoes so not so many).

****can't remember if they were better to walk in or not, certainly quite flexy, especially once each of 3 pairs soles snapped, not vibram either and massively hotspotted around the SPD plate, bought M530 pedals to reduce the hotspotting

However the Tahoe Sports have failed, Freeborn/Spesh wouldn't warranty them either. The inside side of the shoe around the ball of the foot, came away from the sole of the shoe, also the tread away from the sole at this same point, after not all that much hike-a-biking. Am still using them for DHing where its less of a problem

I bought a pair of Rimes for trail-riding/hike-a-biking recently, but have only pushed up half a grassy climb on the Long Mynd so far
Seemed very good. With the Velcro/boa uppers they feel much better to ride in and felt plenty good enough uphill, they're meant to be 7/6ths stiffer than Tahoe sports too
The key difference is that they have rubbery anti-wear pads on both sides, hopefully this will stop the sides/sole parting from one another
Ride well with M520's too. Time will tell if the soles can manage it. Only ever rode the vibram soled Tahoe sports on M530's

Felt a bit of 'special' with shite shoes though. Got them for £55 (sigma sport) so can't moan

Also, like the Tahoe sports and original Tahoe's, I found the Rime's size up smaller than sports, experts, trail 110's, defrosters

I love mine, use them for MTB and road riding. I picked up a second set cheap as they've got rid of the boa on the new ones Evans were doing them for half price.

I like mine a lot. I can confirm they work on torridon rock. They have basically replaced my proper (I.e. toe studs and big lugs) spds

Thanks for the genuine feedback lads, much appreciated, been using M200’s for 4 months & good as they are I fancied something comfier for the long days & a bit more grip on the rocks, really looking forward to it.
Oh & thanks for the other very informative comments, all impressive stuff, Lyzene & Topeak make them as do Park.. they are called Tools.. 😉

Did the second half and a bit of the Lakeland 200 in mine the other day (Walna Scar, Black Sail, Scarth Gap + other hikes). Spot on.

I have a pair also and find them the best for walking normally in, with the SPD clip not bashing the ground like some other MTB shoes out there.

I like them. Only issue I have is that the softer more rubbery sole (compared to the more plastic like material used in older / other shoes), does have a habit of squeaking a bit against the pedal. I use Time MTB pedals so may just be that combination. A bit of WD40 on the pedal surface usually sorts it out for a while.

I've had 2 pairs, both now worn out. Liked them a lot although the BOA wire on the second pair recently snapped.

Did the HT550 in them and got on ok. Ended up with sore achilles, but don't think this was down to the shoes, just too much riding in 5 days.

Just about to buy a new pair of the 2015 version which doesn't have the BOA.

You can order spare Boa up front I believe, as a spare.

I've had a pair for about a year. On the basis that I never give them a seconds thought, I think they are OK.
