I've got a set of 2014 Pike RC dual position forks with the charger damper that have the clunking top out problem.
I think it's caused by air leaking into the charger bladder.
My understanding is that there is a rebuild kit that fixes this problem but I have no idea which one of the multitude available it is if anyone knows?
Also, I think it's possible to upgrade the damper (and therefore fix the problem), does anyone know what upgrade kits fit in this fork and is it worth it?
Thanks!
Chances are, if there's air in the bladder, oil made its way out through the seal head. Make sure your rebuild kit contains the newer SKF seal head.
Take the damper out and check the bladder hasn't split though.
Hi, thanks, I don't think there's any oil left in it at the moment, virtually no damping after a week at CyB!
Might be worth refilling it and working out where it a coming from.
Any oil leaking out the bottom of the damper fork leg?
Sounds like it needs new seals and a full rebuild/bleed. Easiest to post off to J-Tech I think!
Doable yourself but there’s a risk of spending money one one part and it turns out the problem is with another. As Onza says above, the most likely culprit and most important seal to change is the main seal head (new skf one is green)
I don't think anything came out the bottom, mainly around the top right hand wiper seal.
