I've been offered a 6 month old Specialized Epic Marathon for around £2.5K. These retailed for around £5K 6 months ago.
It's been used a few times.

I want it for endurance races. 40-60km in a few hours covering xc trails. I use my Stump Jumper 26" or Camber 26" at the moment. I'm sure going lighter will help a bit.

I should probably just snap this bike up but I'm dithering. So I need to know whether it's a no brainer or having a longer think is a good idea.

If it's in perfect nick, offer £2k.

Whether you need it is your problem I'm afraid. 😉

Yeah, I have plenty of use for it. It's just a matter of timing really. I was sitting out buying a new bike for a few months.

But will another similar good deal be around when you are ready to buy...?

Buy it and get rid of the Camber.

I honestly reckon for Endurance Racing something like a 29" Epic would take 5-10 minutes off your time V's a 26" Camber.

Looks like a no brainier to me if you've got the funds.
