With tire tolerances more exact nowadays, Specialized found that they didn’t actually need the hook.

I seem to have a wildly different experiences fitting different tyres to the same rims and getting them air tight for tubeless - even fromt he same manufacturer.
They use the world "only" right next to "$1200" in that article.
