I bought a new XTR rear mech and I'm looking to get a warranty replacement as the mech has started to get a load of play in it and dropping the chain off on the jockey wheels.
Thing is I bought it cash and cant find the receipt so have no proof of purchase.
Can anyone help please?
Paying cash shouldn't mean no receipt if you boght it new. If it was used then you have no claim to any warranty.
'I'm looking to commit fraud can anyone help?'
There you go FTFY
Eh?
The OP says he paid cash and has lost the receipt.
Having said that, the SGA does not require that a receipt is required for a warranty claim, just some proof of purchase. Approaching the retailer to ask for assistance in going through their sales records might provide a positive result.
why would i want to commit fraud?
last time i checked i wasn't a c*nt
STW'ers in not reading OP properly shocker.
So, how can anyone on here help unless they have his receipt?

Tough. Suck it up, buttercup.
One possible solution would be if you'd bought it from a LBS who know you, as they may not only remember, but may also just honour the warranty on trust.
If not, I refer you to my earlier response.
well some kind soul on here has just offered me one
wind yer necks in
Well, that's nice. A little light fraud. It's not YOUR receipt.
it's not the worst thing i've done today

If possession is nine-tenths of the law, then technically it is his receipt now 8)
Such rapier sharp wit.
Edit - not directed at you, Jamie, I hasten to add!
😛
Sorry! 😉
I'm pretty sure most xtr stuff has a 3 year warranty, and so if it is a model only released within the last 3 years it should be warrantable because it clearly didn't exist to use before then. I've just had a similar issue with some xtr pedals but managed to get my lbs to send them back to the importer to have a look at them to see if they believe it was a warranty case - apparently it is so I'm due a replacement 🙂
I think most shimano kit has a sticker or printed 2 digit code that indicates year of manufacture - you'll need to look up the codes.
This could be the start of a useful trend. Imagine how it would help someone selling used bikes/parts of they could source a 'replacement' receipt...
I've had LBS's which I've used a lot do the warranty paperwork on something for me. You generally just need a returns form from them (another reason to keep a LBS on side)
Legally it is fraud.

FTFY.
'Kin ell... I predict a riot...
*waits with bated breath for next insult*
I do so hope that it's as awesome as the last one!
