What do you reckon, I think it should be OK for Alpine trail use but any thoughts please? Sensible ones preferably 🙂

I ran mine for a bit with Totems spaced down to 160mm.

It was ok but much better with lyriks at 140mm now.

Thanks jam bo. Most of my riding out of season is winch and plummet hence my thinking that the longer travel on the front should be OK, I don't do much flat....

How does the axle-crown length compare with the likes of Fox 36s? Marzocchi used to be longer than most, that'd put me off a bit

Personally, if your going to go above 140 on an Orange, get an Alpine or a Patriot.

The Five just feels wrong with anything other than 140 on IMHO.

I've got the 2010 44RC3ti on my 20" Five. An extra 30mm on top of that sounds rather a lot.
No you won't die. I've even seen 66 'zocchis (180mm) fitted to a Five before today ... but he didn't leave 'em on for long.

Hmm - need to give it some thought. I'd love a new Alpine 160 but they are not on sale....
