Much improvement here? 2012 claims 1000 lumens 'at the trail' - is that opposed to 2011 960 generated? confused
Hi Ninja,
The flagship light Hope sold prior to mid-2011 was the Hope Vision 4, the replacement for 2011 onwards is the Hope Vision R4 (The flagship model is the R8)
The measured lumens is the actual amount the light puts out, the generated lumens is the amount theoretically created.
This 'generated' figure is what most manufacturers state, and Hope used to state prior to mid-2011.
Therefore, you should be comparing the 960 generated lumen Hope Vision 4 to the new Hope Vision R4 at 1440 generated lumens.
It's far brighter than the previous incarnation, and brighter than a Maxx-d - while being smaller than both at the lamp.
If you're happy with an external battery source, it's a fantastic light.
