i brought a set of used revs sometime ago, they have the dual wir removed in place for a dual position coil which o believe is from a sektor, they have 155mm stanchion exposed, think they have the rct3 damper. they ride fine but hsve a tapping noise, becomes most apparent when taking off drom jumps, ive put up with it for some time but now itw becoming annoying now. ive pushed and pulled the fork legs and steerer tube but no noises so must be inside. I've done s Google on various coil conversion and it sounds like I don't have a top outz negative spring on the rebound side. tora and pike springs are mentioned abit, does they just fit between the piston and bottom seal head which is held in with cir clip, is it a tight fit? if not anr moves about does it not damage or scratch the rebound shaft? any one have any experience of this?
Have a look at this image and a read of this thread on mtbr.com.
Which it looks like I posted on... anyway, I added a Revelation Dual Control (I think) rebound damper to a U-Turn Sektor ages ago. From memory the top-out coil just sits there, but it also reduces travel. I ended up cutting the one from my Sektor damper in two and just sitting it in the same position on the Revelation damper, no circlips or owt from memory. Works fine and no top-out noises.
I might even have the other half of the spring somewhere - I'll take a look.
There's a diagram of it here
yes, to confirm you need the coil top-out spring. it sits under the top of the rebound damper. non-coil rebound dampers don't have one. i got one by buying a rebound damper for coil sektors from planet x for peanuts. have a look around for one.
it's the 2 parts below no.27 within bracket 18 in the pic.
i didn't cut mine down like badly wired dog, so my fork travel is reduced ~15mm, which, turns out isn't a problem as Axle-Crown length is already long for my frame.
