HI all,

Having a mare trying to work out what goes on, square seat tube and no mounting holes on frame so has to fit on the BB.

It has a standard external cup threaded BB with one spacer on the drive side. The 2 Speed chainwheel going on is 36-26 SLX and the shifter is a 2x SLX.

My research has lead me to needing a S1-DMD bracket and a SRAM FD of some kind, is this right? If so where can I get the bracket from? What FD? A "flat, curving, slider side pull with teflon action...." So many options!

Just need a few more gears, please help!

I just took a XT front derailleur off an Evo stumpjumper if its the same you can have. It comes with the bracket and bolts that allow fitment on the chain stay.

Is that how its done, not on the the BB? Yeah if you'll think it'll work that will be great, what year is yours?

Yeat there was a small bolt hole on the chain stay

From memory Spesh did two little brackets that bolted to the chain stay over the top of the B.B. pivot bolt. Then you could fit either a sram mech or a Shimano e type front mech with the B.B. plate removed

This manual is a little newer than 2010 but may help

shimano E-Type mech have a lower and higher setting useing a little spacer thing depending on chain ring size

Hi, that does help, it shows the 1st and second generation mounts.

Will go and take another look at the bike and see if the 2nd gen bracket will fit but still a bit confused.

Orangeboy you say for a 2010, I should be able to fit an E Type mech direct to the frame but for a SRAM I'd need a plate? If so Superdez you're running yours with a plate so could that be different to a 2010?

Sorry to be a pain just need to get the bike sorted for the weekend.

E type is the same mech but with  the plate you may be able to mount it as you have the external threaded BB but I'm not sure if you will have clearance issues.  If you want I will send you out my mech and mounting plate for a fiver to cover postage.

No you won’t be able to fit the mech directly. You will need a mount of some sort

Your not a pain Spesh and most other brands are with useing unique parts

Around that time a lot of Spesh bikes used to use a Shimano e-type front mech but you removed the mounting plate and then the mech bolted on to the frame and you threw the mounting plate away .

I suspected this was going to be more than bolting on a FD.

Superdez, that's great. Give me your email and I'll PP you a fiver. Good place to start.

Thanks all for your help.
