I'm considering a new frame - 2010 steel Kona Explosif or Scandium Kula.

Got any intel. on these? Are they any good, what forks are they designed to run, how do they compare to 'classic' Konas?

i got a scandium kona kula primo frame from 2006, blue/silver one.
I really rate it for a trail and race purposes, done all sorts on it, perfect with 100mm forks. i guess you could compare the geometry's?
mines old and abused but still going strong, i've slightly mashed the BB thread somehow, but a slightly longer BB cured this.

Explosif - £325 at J E James. Comes with sliding drop outs for singlespeed or gears.

Different kettle of fish but I had a 2008 29er Unit and it was an utter tank

Still wondering what the fuss over new Konas is about.

They are not Joe Murray anymore, I would think. Might be better going for a Voodoo Bizango...

Plus they dont seem to be made of decent tubing ie 853, Tange Prestige, etc, etc. Just standard Kona double Butted tubing. Might as well be a CinderCone. I had a 2005 Dedacciai framed one and that was nice though and they pop up from time to time on ebay sliding dropouts an all, suited for 100mm travel forks.
