One of my lads has bought himself some nice Hope M4's to put on his Bighit. The front fork is a 2010 Boxxer & we bought an "H" mount thinking this was the correct one for the job. See pic below.

As you can see, the caliper is at the wrong radius for the 183 disk 😥 I could modify the mount but would rather have the correct one. I've also tried the Avid 183 post adaptor & it's not the correct one either. Any ideas what we've done wrong ?

looks fine to me apart from a few mm - you sure you've not got a 180 rotor on the front?

Worth checking, I'll have a look. (Defo ordered as a 183) & mount to suit.

Edited to add. Definitely a 183 rotor.

iirc, boxxer mount is different - you need a 203mm rotor and the Boxxer mount, HMBD

Available from us (and all other good Hope stockists) 😉

The pre 2010 Boxxers used a specific mount. The 2010+ forks use a standard 74mm (6") post mount.

That looks like a mount for a 185mm disk - the Avid one also won't fit as they rely on the 'top hat & shim' to make it work.

Oops - my bad, maybe I'll read the question and LOOK AT THE PHOTO properly next time!

Is it sat too far out - a quick google suggests they direct mount PM 180?

Yup, too far out by approx 3-4mm. Confusing the issue is that the Boxxer mount has changed over the years, at least once. I'm going to call Hope again next week. I might have to resort to the lathe, I'm running out of patience with this thing 🙂

Cheers D.

If it's a 180mm direct mount and a 183mm rotor, a couple of washers between the caliper and post mounts and no adapter should work, maybe?

Stupid question, but I assume you have tried flipping the mount the other way up?

I just looked at mine & the top section of the mount/caliper bolt is nowhere near that far out, and i'm running a 203mm rotor.

I've just looked at my missus bike and its the same set up as yours, 183 rotor with H mount onto a boxxer and theres about 1mm where the pad clears the rotor face, where as yours looks like 3mm. Have you checked that part of the pad hasn't gone missing ?

I can sell you the caliper half to fit a 203mm or swap for your caliper half!
