Finishing up the new build and I have a nice 200mm rotor I'd like to use, but none of my local bicycle retailers have a 200mm post-post adaptor. What's the real world difference I'm going to experience with a 203mm one? 1.5mm doesn't seem like much, but what's the point in a big rotor if I'm just going to misalign the calliper, is what half of me is thinking.

Rotor is Avid HS1 and calliper is Formula RX if that makes any difference?

Stick it on and check it out by eye.

Depends on rotor design I expect but if it looks OK it probably is.

More likely to have issues the other way I'd think.

Just have a look and make sure that the pads sit correctly on the rotor...if the top of the pad overlaps the outer part of the rotor then it'll eventually wear enough that the pads touch before touching the rotor...also if the bottom of the pads touch the arms of the rotor then eventually it'll fail as they arent designed for it.

I've filed mounts down in the past when in this situation.

Thanks guys, think I might grab the 203 and file it if need be since I want to ride this weekend.

I've got 180s knocking about, but since my last bike was direct mount then I appear to have the adaptor for that too.

I have to admit I've always considered them the same size, I assumed they were just the metric and the imperial (converted to metric) and have never had a problem using discs and adapters in either size.

In reality it's only 1.5 mil on the radius, 3 mil on the diameter, check pad contact by eye...
