So i'm looking at buying a full sus for the summer as I have a lot of spare parts lying around that I can use. Seen a pitch pro in the classifieds and was wondering if anyone has one/have owned one? Is there anything that goes wrong with them or are they as bullet proof as other reviews I have read make out?

one person on here's snapped multiple swingarms, I dont think there are any other breakages? I love mine, its scarily fast over rough tracks, corners like its on a scaelectric track, and just about pedals uphill (it does need some fitness to get up anything steep/technical though!)

My hardly used 2011 frames for sale if anyone offers the right price, 3 breaks in the same radius in 2 years (only one pitch related) means Im not allowed to risk another break or it'll just get even more complicared to fix (and im already being treated by one of the top doc's for the third!).

+1 for the pitch. I love mine. Had it nearly 4 years, pivot bearing starting to feel a little rough. Stripped it down popped the seals and flushed them out and repacked with grease. Not perfect but much better. I will prob replace them in the summer, they are only about £30/40 on eBay. That's the 1st time I have ever touched them. Gone through one headset, one free hub, one BB, one mech hanger. Everything has been upgraded, except the brakes.

It's a rocket going down, ok going up depends what your used to. I'm the only limiting factor on what it can do. I'm 5,11" and on a medium with 50mm stem 100mm reverb ( could have put a 125mm reverb on), fox36, 740mm bars. Fits me like a glove. Would like to try a large though to see what a slightly longer wheelbase feels like. I tend to plough mine through rock gardens down drops with no finess or skill, several big crashes etc and just the odd scratch or paint chip to show for it ( I wish the same could be said for me).

Weighs in at a smidge over 30lb with a tubeless roval traverse wheel set and pedals.

Another +1 for the Pitch as well - 6' on a stock 2011 Medium here. Sometimes feels a bit small but point it down and it's awesome. Looking for a set of 160mm 36s or Lyriks for it and I just wish it had a tapered head tube...

I've had the Comp (same colour as the one above) since new. Some of the components were pretty poor (but i knew that when i got it - everywhere was out-of-stock of the Pro version) but the frame, forks and finishing kit have been faultless. Awesome bike.

Unfortunately it's not getting used now i live somewhere flat, so it'll probably go up for sale sometime this year.

I've had a Pitch Pro since the back end of '08. Still relatively how it came, wider bars, 70mm stem, tubeless and 2*9 are the only changes really.

I've put a couple of sets of bearings in, and it had a shock service when it dumped its oil over the shed floor, other than that its been a belter.

Thinking of some nicer wheels, 1*10 and a dropper, but I'm in no rush.

Have one (still) - Pikes just about had it and seriously contemplating a coil shock and bigger fork - the rest (ie frame) is awesome and no issues at all

Another +1 here , really loved my '08 pro and made a few changes over years . Dt/Hope wheels , 150mm revs and wider bars etc .
An absolute hoot on the downs and not too bad on the ups , frame is pretty tough to be fair ! I do miss mine after it was stolen.

I love mine, love it to bits.

Still on original forks and shock, can't see any reason to upgrade those but changed everything else.

Most recent pic but now have a Reverb, 2x10 XT gears.

Mine has got loads of gold ano on it which goes well with the brown. 😀

Is it mine you've seen?

It's a 2010 I think.

Someone's bid on it on eBay now si I guess it's not for sale here anymore

I always kicked myself over seeing a heavily reduced Pitch in the stunning blue of the one in this thread (with tan grips, saddle, etc) in a lbs but I didn't have the funds at the time.

Thanks for all the replies. Managed to break my forks on the 29er so the full sus build is being put on hold. Very annoying! But when I do have funds will def be considering a pitch.

Yeah, they're tough bikes. I've only ever used mine in Wales, Alps, Tenerife, and other proper hills/mountains. I don't ride it if there's no GNARRRRR basically. Too much bike for XC.
I've gone 2x10, flat pedals, and added Magura brakes, tougher wheels and 160mm coil Lyriks. The standard shock is all I've ever needed.
It's got some proper scars on it now, dented seat stay and lots of tiny rock marks on the down tube. I'll probably never sell it because it's not worth much as it is and it'll never be a bad bike, and I'll always be able to get spares for it. Plus I have the lifetime frame warranty.
Well worth buying one now, as there plenty of them about in good nick.

I had one and really enjoyed and rated it, but sold it for a Stumpy. After the Stumpy got nicked another Pitch came along cheap and is mine. They are really capable bikes and regardless of what MBR will have you believe the lack of tapered headtube and 142x12 bolt up rear will not kill you and still works just fine!
Mine is running Lyrik and they really make it work in the rough stuff

2008 was the best pitch vintage by far. Only the brakes are original spec. They will be going soon, any sugestions?

I love my Pitch, was my only mtb for a while.
Mine is Poo Brown as well, blatantly the best choice...
Not the best pic but it was an epic day out 😀

I have a hardtail again now but the Pitch still gets a lot of use.

According to a web based frame geometry calculator its approx 65.7 degrees with a 160 Lyrik fork.[img] [/img]

@craig5, whatever new brakes you get, make sure to cut your hoses down, that hose on the front looks a right mess!

Another poo brown model here! Mine had a slightly rougher life, bought used off here then immediately transported to Vancouver to spend its days winching up Mt Fromme and bashing back down whatever trails took my fancy. Was stolen, recovered, rebuilt and had two rides in this guise before I popped a disc in my back and sold it to finance a trip to Alaska.

I had one day in Spain on a Pitch and thought it was a tremendously capable bike on the rough stuff and the descents. It was hard work up-hill though, so not something I'd consider as my do-it-all UK bike.

Got one of the original Blue frame ones as a 2nd hand frame only a few years back off here.

Currently set up as follows

Raceface 2*9 chainset
Nukeproof bars
Fox Talas 36 RC2
Fox DHX Air5
Hope M4 evo

It rides very good and much better than my old original enduro.

🙁 Ah, not to worry. I'm tentatively looking for a large (missus).

I'm tentatively looking for a large [s]([/s]missus[s])[/s].

I think there are specialist websites for that sort of thing.

Back on topic, don't underestimate the size of the pitch, it is a very long frame, so may still be suitable. The one I have spare was used by my missus - I replaced it with an enduro (same forks) and knocked 5" off the wheelbase!!

Sort of want a new bike, but cant justify replacing the Pitch. The only downside i can think of is the back end is a bit twangy.

I admit that I am going purely on the numbers. I'm a gnat's manhood under 6ft and have a personal limit, based on experience, of nothing shorter than 600mm for a cockpit / horizontal top-tube. IIRC the M Pitch is around 585mm and the L is somewhere in the region of 615mm, which should be about perfect with a 50mm stem.

In all seriousness, try both before you buy - I'm 6' with short legs/long torso and I ride a medium. Dpends whether you want it as an all-day epic bike or a sub-4hr ride hooligan bike really I guess. I went for the latter...

Im 6ft, they have a very steep effective seatube which makes the top tube look short so when stood up it feels perfect. It doesnt line up with the BB so the published geometry numbers are a bit missleading.

As above, it's a long bike with a short cockpit. I'm just under 6ft and my Medium Pitch does feel quite short when sat down. Great for a play bike, but not so good for a long distance machine.

I'm a kick in the arse of 5'9" and ride a medium. I wouldn't want it any shorter for all day rides tbh.

Best bikes I've ever owned! The red and black one ended up quite pimped out and I really regret selling them.

Anyone over 6 foot 1 really needs a large!
