Hello,
I'm having trouble getting the damper out of the right leg of the forks. It's stuck and won't budge with a strong tap on the threaded shaft.
I've just put this desperate plea to Mojo, but I hope guys can offer some advice as well:
I'm looking to service my forks but I can't get the damper out of the right leg. I've been using:

I even have a modded 26mm socket, but when it comes to whacking the thread in the bottom of the right leg it won't budge. It's like it's seized. Do you have any tips?
The bulk of the oil is out of both of the legs.
I can whip the spring out of the left leg no problem.
I'm desperate to get back on the bike and go for a ride.
So there we go. I'm trying to build up my bike maintenance skills and can do most things but this one has me stumped. The thread in the bottom has had a few decent whacks, but no movement.
Do you have any additional tips on how to get the damper out?
Regards,
Elliott.
its just a taper isn't it. it will just be stuck - give it a belt a good shrap hit
Problem solved with a bigger hammer. And a bigger swing. 🙂
