Hi looking for an entry level HT for my mate who is going to do a B'ham to Ldn cycle all the canal network for charitable purposes.

Budget of about £200 pref with sus forks.

Im at a bit of a loss to know what to recommend seeing as i spent more than that on my last set of cranks. I was think something from the giant or boardman range?

I had an Apollo bike from Halfords for years that was great. I changed the bars, but I think that was it & it survived many miles on roads, dirt tracks, canal paths etc. It even survived 6 months in Bavaria, including BA's delicate handling of it!

I would probably try and avoid suspension forks at that price. They'll just bounce about a little bit & add weight.
