Just finished building my 20" Bluepig (apart from waiting on HEL brake hose ferrules to shorten them).
First impressions are when compared to my trusty XL sized Chameleon are that its longer so I changed to a 50mm stem rather than the 70 I was running, the BB is quite a bit higher-I run the SDG post at 8cm in 'XC mode' on the Cham, on the Bluepig at the same height I was a lot higher off the floor and have dropped it down a few cm's allthough my leg extension isnt as much as it was.
The BB/3 finger plate really allows my to get a lower 'Q factor' with my Profile cranks-its now running with 2 less spacers.
Coming back to the 'gate like' appearance of the 20" which I've harped on about before due to its lack of drop in the top tube; one annoying thing is that the brake levers clout the toptube that they dont do on my mates 18" Bluepig or on my XL Cham. A bit of a moot point for a 'hardcore hooligan' frame thats gonna be pushed/crashed and end up with lever dints/paint chips, and it feels a bit wieldy compared to the Cham
So far and from its initial thrash round the block it looks like being a keeper, it dosnt feel as slack and slow as I imagined it would be and it feels quite nice. I'll report back when I've had a decent ride on it.

Brant-its not just me! drop the toptube a bit for the MK2?

YHM. Many things afoot here 🙂
Oh for god's sake! The high top tube is why I ruled the ragley frames out - if there's a mk2 on the horizon I'm likely to end up back at square 1... Can you let me know what's afoot?
Can you let me know what's afoot?
Not really, I'm afraid. Nothing on sale until September.
Carbon will be used, but only as an alloying element 😉
Brant care to share? have been in to buy one twice now and both times
the top tube on the 20" has put me off!you list stand over as 32.9 so
me at 6'3" with a 33" inside leg seems a bit high.
Oh well you answer as im typing!
ive got a 31 inside leg and the small pig lists as a 31 standover but i can manage to ride no probs
Brant-replied
September you say...? Oh well, that's that decision made easier then. Ta for letting us know.
I've been out all day on my 'Pig and you know what I was gonna write a load of rambling tech filled twaddle, but half way through I remembered a magazine test article from years ago in Invert or Dig BMX mag that the Irish BMXer Will Smyth wrote about about the 1st S&M frame Chris Moeller ever made-the MadDog. It had double dropouts (if you read it you'll know)
In it he said it felt to him like the first real proper bike you ever owned and loved, that you just always wanted to ride, no bull-shit, just a ****ing great bike to ride, and ride, and ride, everywhere, everything, just ride it, after school, weekends, rain or shine, just get on and ride it.
I bought one soon after. One of the best bikes I ever owned.
Fast forward 20 (ish) years. That same article-just change the name Maddog to Bluepig.

Im wi you on that Rustnissan! bar the standover lol...
Yeah another vote for a lower top tube on the 20" frame please, I'd buy one tomorrow if that was changed.
