Hi,

For road duties you should be fine.

Just keep in mind that your tyre will be wider, more square profile, with slightly more exposed side walls and tad shorter than on narrower rim.

You might also need to re-adjust slightly your cornerring technique.

Cheers!

I.

If it's any help, my commuter wheels are 30mm internal and have 38mm tyres on them. It's been about 1000 miles so far and no issues. The commute is mostly road with a bit of singletrack thrown in. I have them at 60psi.

I've put a 2" mud tyre on slightly narrower rims than that tubeless. It never really felt right. Might be ok with a tube in on the road though.

And a word of warning from experience with Mrs Dweller's bike. If you've got baggy beads the wide rim will make it very easy for the tyre to slip round and slice off valves at the base. Panaracer Fire Xc Kevlar beads and wide Ritchey rims I hate you in combination.
