Afternoon STW
Can anyone recommend a couple of days either gravel or road with an overnighter somewhere vaguely near Dunoon for later September please? Doing the Dunoon Dirt Dash and have a bit of leave to use up.
Will have a car so was considering a chunk of the Caledonian Way, but would welcome some recommendations. On road circa 80-100 miles/day, off road - circa 60-80 subject to the going and element of 'hike a bike.' Not the WHW please!
Very many thanks
Paul
Quite jealous, I think there's a tremendous amount of potential on the roads around there, e.g.
Head west across to the Clachan of Glendaruel climb over to Otter Ferry, head north to Cairndown, take main Inverarey-Arrochar road up the 'back' side of the Rest and be Thankful, descend wee switchback road to Lochgoilhead, climb back up Hell's Glen Road, descend sweeping hairpins, retrace steps slightly to Strachur, turn south-east to Ardentinny, tetrace steps home.
That looks awesome - many thanks.
I did this when I was at Ardentinny and it was fun on the gravel bike:

I was up there last week and have to say 100 miles would feel like a very long way to me on some of those roads. The road west from Dunoon to Portavadie doesn’t have any flat. Absolutely stunning though.
Many thanks chaps. think the Ardentinny one might be a chortle before we leap in the car and go home. Does all rather depend on the weather.
Thanks again
Paul
