You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Off to afan finally tomorrow afternoon, so will have wednesday and thursday to ride there. Been to brechfa before so want to stick to afan this time.
Planning to do W2 on wednesday and blade on thursday.
Is the penhydd trail worth doing instead of the blade? Also what about skyline?
Thanks.
I thought Penhydd was now mostly a blue? Depends on what you're looking for but I would think Blade would be quite a bit more entertaining. Neither will take a whole day to complete though.
I think Skyline is now basically shut forever. Blade replaced it.
Thanks, i need to travel on thursday as well so blade for 1/2 o day would suit me.
Blade is dull.
W2 is ace, taking in Y Wal and Whites. Penhydd and Blue Scar are fun but short(ish) overall.
Blade is not dull. Just different to wall/whites. The trail's generally wider with more built up berms, and a lot rockier in places.
I'd spend a day doing W2, then for the second day ride blade in the morning before either blade again, or whites depending on which one you enjoyed most.

Surprised you think that. The final descent is awesome IMO and feels like a genuine reward whereas I was underwhelmed by W2. Each to their own and all that I guess. 🙂
Blade, Penhydd and Blue Scar are all worth doing in my opinion.
A few weekends ago we did W2, Penhyyd and Blue Scar one day and then Blade and a mash up of Y Wall some repeats of some of the better sections at the end of Blade and finished with the Skyline decent on the second day. That's a killer 2 days though!
Doing Blade and Penhydd or Blur Scar in the same ride is a tricky one because the start points are at different ends of the valley.
We went there a few weeks ago did a skyline w2 combo on Saturday and then got a guide through Afan Lodge and went off piste on the Sunday for half a day, money very well spent did a load of trails we would never have found and had a great time, with a much more varied selection of runs.
Skyline was a good extension loop to blade last time I rode it. Some decent natural trails, a bit of firer road and a few extra Singletrack sections.
W2 one day.
Blade with Whites black run added and skyline section added another day. Whites black run comes back to the same point which you can easily carry on and do blade.
I was there for an annual Spring Break visit with mates 2 weeks ago. Rode Penhydd on the first afternoon. Whites Level + The Wall (not as W2) + Blue Scar on the Saturday. Blade on the Sunday morning.
This nicely covered all bases. It might be a blue but I have to say that Blue Scar never fails to provide a serious giggle on the way down so worth including for a laugh.
