Looking for some views on the above....I’m looking for a slightly larger volume rear tyre then the current 2.3” aggressor I have. This is for a hardtail where over a couple of hours my back starts to tighten up from a previous disc injury.
On the full suss I don’t have a problem -
So I’m swapping from an alloy frame to a steel one and going with a bigger tyre.
I like the 2.3” aggressor but the 2.5” version seems pretty weighty and has bigger tread knobs so I’m wondering if it’s going to feel heavy / draggy on there. Looking at exo casing as (touch wood) I’ve never punctured / holed one. When I go to places like Antur I run a tough casing Trailboss just to be on the safe side.
The Forekaster looks a chunk lighter and like it might work as an allrounder well - meant to clear mud ok and passable on hardpack, although better at looser / softer stuff.
Wondered which rolls better mostly.
I've not tried the wider versions but found the 2.35 Forekaster significantly faster than the 2.3 Aggressor. I found the only downside to the Forekaster is it's noisy on hardpack and the road.
2.4 Dissector?
I think the Dissector is slower rolling than both and maybe heavier as it’s designed as a DH tyre tread I believe. I’m guessing it’s somewhere between an aggressor and a dhr2?
Forekaster 2.6 on my Solaris Max (27.5) as a rear. Good tyre in most conditions. Ran in through the winter. It didn't last that long tho.
Have a Dissector on my Ripley (2.4). It's weighty but it rolls really well. I'm not a fan of the 2.5 aggressor. Seems to be rubbish at everything.
Is the forekaster you have the 3c or dual compound version - thinking about your comment about it not lasting long?
The 2.5 aggressor appears to be heavy and might have lost some of it’s faster rolling ability vs the DHR2 from what I’m
Reading. But then I thought the 2.4 dhr2 suited me less than the 2.3 dhr2 - it just felt heavy and draggy and killed some of the fun factor the bike had.
Thinking maybe I’ll pick up the dual compound forekaster as it seems to have a slightly heavy / stronger casing than the 3c version - but it’s still a chunk lighter than the 2.5 aggressor.
