Im more of a mtb rider than roadie but after selling my ribble R872 last year i miss it and fancy another.
Ideally would like to spend 2K but could stretch to 3. Im tempted with the westbrook deal with the foil 15 di2 electric pack and i could get it under my budget to complete the build.
Are there any decent deals out there on full build for my budget or do you think the Scotts on westbrook are hard to beat for the price.
Cheers
Sram red

or with DI2 10spd

Personally if I had £2k I'd get the Supersix with Sram red (lightest groupset) in team rep colours
Oof. What crashtestmonkey said. I'd love a dabble on one of them but I'm going to have to settle with my caad8 (which is lovely)
Being an aero designed bike the Scott foil is by all accounts an incredibly harsh ride would be a good idea to try one before you spend money. Otherwise the other recommendations made here all look like very good deals.
I test road a Foil when they first came out and found it very harsh I ended up buying a Cannondale SuperSix.
not reduced but a bargain build on a decent frame
http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/cervelo-r3-105
the Ultegra-specced version is a grand more, but a 6800 11spd Ultegra groupset will only cost you 500 quid, and you could sell the 105 groupset.
Or a Colnago (dont know too much about the CLX frame, I assume its a Chinese-made 'entry level' Colnago as their Italian frames cost as much as this bike).

I'd still spend my £2K on the mean green machine though 🙂
I bought a Synapse Red from Paul's last year for the same sort of money. Absolutely cracking bike and great spec for the price, even got a decent set of wheels which is unusual for an off-the-shelf road bike!
Very happy with my Scott CR1 from Westbrook albeit a more relaxed geometry than the Foil.
Hmm that dale is pretty tasty - How did i miss that as i check pauls on a daily basis 🙂
Dales always look a bit gate like to me. Im a shade under 6ft and rode a 52.5 R872 and was put on a 56 Scott for my height.
The R872 Geo for the 52.5 (522) - Looking at the Ribbles Geo would i be best on a 54 or 56 dale with me not being able to test ride?

The 522 ribble has a 565mm top tube which is the more important measure. the '56cm' C'dale has a 560mm TT (and an actual measured ST of 54cm according to the geo chart on the Pauls page). So the 56.
Which you have a choice of colours in. Though only a madman would not buy it in green.
Open mould Chinese frame, 9000 Dura Ace group (or 6970 Di2 mechs/shifters), FarSports carbon wheels. Finishing kit of your choice.
It's not the sexiest bike in the world, but if you can see past that to a pro level race bike frame that was up there in the TDF this week (and has been for a few years), then I would commend a Giant TCR Advanced SL4. Currently £2.3K from Pauls Cycles. Want to spend more? An SL3 with integrated seat post can be had for a little more money.
The naysayers will tell you that it is only 10-speed and hence not future proof, and that it is Ultegra not Dura Ace (which is where your budget falls). BUT... you will not find a better road bike for the money. (Except a Giant Defy Advanced SL, of course).
These are great bikes that are rightly popular. Giant don't have the kudos of Cervelo, or some of the Italian brands. They are however one of only two companies# who have a complete fibres-to-frames strategy and make great bikes.
In practice, there are very few poor bikes in your budget. But I can say that keeping those white/green team replica Cannondales clean is a PITA. The CAAD8 we have is always picking up marks.
#The other is Look
I'm 6' and a smidge with a 32" leg and longish torso. I was recommended a 58 but 'dales seem to come up big. I went with a 56 and its spot on (caad8 tho)
I was recommended a 58
By whom? That would be a gate for you. I'm 5'10.5" and ride a 54 with 100 stem. Cannondales do seem to come up big.
Leisure Lakes.
It was.
I ignored them though and bought a 56.
Another vote for a TCR, amazing bike, absolutely love mine. At least go have a spin on one (you'll probably be a ML size.)
Scott Foil Team Issue with Di2 Ultegra electric pack ( shifters, mechs, cables and battery&charger) for £1399.
You can build it for £2000 with Ultegra wheels ,Ultegra cranks and callipers and steerer and handlebars of your choice.
Uncomfortable?? Stick on 25mm tyres, slightly less pressure and you are fine.
Use the discount code FOILDI2 for £100 discount.

I'd be having a dale at that sort of price, personally though I'd go for shimano over SRAM, even with that slight weight penalty
Do you have a pic of your 56 at all ? Wouldn't mind seeing how much post you have showing at your height.
Cheers
For £2-3k on a road bike, and knowing someone that just bought one of those Scott Foil with Di2 deals, it would be a long way down my list. Not ridden one myself but everyone I know who has says they're almost unbearably stiff.
Cannondale Supersix 2013 on SRAM Red from Paul's cycles is very hard to beat.
KTM team are/were selling off their team bikes recently. Revelator Master frames, on Dura-Ace Di2 with Fulcrum Racing Zero's (or an upgrade to FFWD carbon tubs) and Ritchey finishing kit for £2600 iirc. Yes, obviously they'll have done a few miles, but they'll also have been well looked after.
Slightly leftfield option for you... Kinesis Aithein frameset, Dura Ace mechanical groupset, and a nice set of wheels. Should easily be in budget and better performance per £ than any widely available carbon...
54cm CAAD8 with a 100mm stem. I am 179cm (33" inseam and 74cm saddle height) and absolutely average proportions. Forks, bars and stem are upgraded Ritchey WCS carbon. Brakes and shifters are Ultegra 6600. And it had just helped me to six BC points 😉 . The bars and shifters are on a new Propel. The fork has remained as it is about 400g lighter than stock alloy.
Geometry is the same as the super six, albeit with a raised top tube (about half an inch higher)
There's probably not any bad bikes amongst the big brands so you'll get the best bang for your buck with whatever's discounted at Paul's cycles.
However a couple that I thought really appealing recently are the Cervelo R3 which was pricy at 3k with ultegra or the similar priced S3 both bikes you'd want to own. Another was a Tarmac again with Ultegra which was nearer 2k so you could add some nice wheels.
Depends if you've got enough cash spare to be picky s'pose.
Edit: I see the r3 105 is mentioned above , it looks a bargain but is actually a different frame altogether from the ultegra version. Also the TCR's..I test rode a load of bikes last year and that was probably he nicest but I can't get past the dullness, shouldn't matter maybe doesn't to most but did to me.
Sizing - I'm a bit under 6ft too and have a 54 and a 56 seat, pedals, bar etc are in the same place on both, 56 is the default choice.
That Dale supersix looks tempting
Thanks Bregante.
The Super6 are superb bikes. They are so stable on the descents, sometimes I will take look down at speedo and a bit of panic will set in because it will be reading a lot higher than it feels. The climbing of these bikes are legendary anyways - feeling it yourself though is something else!
I had a TCR Advanced, which was superb. The Ribble r872 is great too.
The Super6 however is a totally new level. Real foot down acceleration that has the bike leaping forward yet as comfy as my winter bike on long rides.
Also the TCR's..I test rode a load of bikes last year and that was probably he nicest but I can't get past the dullness,
🙂 is an amazing bike. I don't really get the dullness thing but then I've always liked Giants. Dull for me would be a Spesh or a Trek maybe. Also road bike is a bit of a tool for training and racing on so I'm not fussed about having something exotic. Those Cannondales do look good too.
Depending what you fancy, but there are some killer deals on the Kinesis Ti Gran Fondo Frameset, ?about £1100. Would build up nice if not too fussed about carbon?
Also road bike is a bit of a tool for training and racing on
I think it was TiRed that said in a previous thread "love what you ride, ride what you like". You wont buy a bad bike at that price, but it depends what youre looking for. If all you want is ultimate VFM then go the generic Chinese route Njee suggested. If I was spending that sort of money I'd want some pride of ownership, something that made me want to ride it whenever I saw it. That green Supersix would do that for me (and I'm breaking STW tradition as its not a bike I own).
I went to spectate Paris-Roubaix in 2011, and it was seeing an FDJ-rep Lapierre Xelius sat in a shop window that actually made me think "wow, I want that" about a road bike for the first time in 20 years. Now a born-again roadie, I have a Xelius currently sat in my kitchen, going out to smash some hills as soon as my coffee's finished!
Must admit the only road bike that's made me think "wow I want that" recently has been this forumites Look from the ultimate build thread. Beautiful bike but would be a bit worried about racing it or thrashing it down some local B roads though! Oh and probably quite a bit outside the 3k max budget too, that might just get you the wheels 🙂
that might just get you the wheels
Nope, not even that! Meilensteins are about £3500!
One pound of change here if you go tubular 🙂
On a super six evo high mod this year and it's a lovely bike - can't fault it at all. Had a foil last year and liked that but it's definitely more of a race bike and is still and a bit harsh which isn't a fault but something you need to be aware of
