noticed from Sven Cycles Instagram feed that they are stocking these massive Compass Antelope Hill slicks. I’m intrigued as to how they ride on the road - has anyone used them?
Reason being I’ve revently acquired a Shand Stoater FT frameset that could accommodate them.
Not tried these but had some large Schwalbe marathon, really heavy and there’s no benefit in the extra volume unless all your riding is over cobbles or potholes
I'm currently riding Compass Switchback Hill 650b x 48 tyres and like them a lot. They have a decent volume, immense grip and take a lot of road vibration out. Not too heavy either and I'm riding them with tubes as tubeless on a bike where I swap tyres is too much of a faff. I've ridden them all over the Surrey Hills on and off road, at Tro Bro Léon, on club runs, bikepacking and on and off road in the Cévennes.
Downsides are that they're a little bit fragile and tyre pressure is critical - too low makes things a bit vague, too high makes things very skippy.
