looking for some 2.2 or 2.4 fast rolling tough tyres for my 29'' bike
any ideas greatly appreciated.
I did the KAW using 2.2 Maxxis Aspens,I did pick up a puncture in the rear tyre but it quickly sealed with the Joes sealent I had in it,it's certainly a fast rolling tyre and I found it gripper than it looks

Minion SS for the rear.
WTB Ranger 2.4 in tough/fast version?
Vittoria Mezcal TNTs roll well on my commuter (canal towpaths and road) - I have the 2.6 but I think they do 2.35 as well.
We met at the end of the JennRide - so Hi again - just seen the park bench story over on that thread and put 2 + 2 together. I finished with my lad and we nattered for a bit with Rich before heading off.

Ranger Tough is tough, and not particularly sluggish, but it's not really fast either. It's all relative I guess and depends what you're looking for, it's definitely a capable all round tyre.
No idea what the Fast version is like.

hello mate, was nice to say hello, and now put a face to a name on here.
hope you had a good weekend.
i will take a look at the mezcals. cheers.
Just started using a Rocket Ron Evo Super Ground on the back of my hardtail, it's a lot more confidence inspiring than the previous Ralph and seemingly just as quick. Also seems to have taken a lot of hammer, without any issues.
Rockrazor for the rear... But unfortunately Schwalbe don't make a supergravity 29er any more which would be the best tough choice, so it's getting hard to find the good ones. (the super trail is pretty weak)
I running a Specialized Ground Control 29 x 2.3 on the back at the moment.
It's a grid casing, which is holding up to the Peaks nicely and you can usually find them on offer somewhere.
It has a very round profile, which may not suit if you rely on the side knobs for cornering.
I like maxis dissector. Fast tough 2.4 good transition as you lean. And quite light too.
Crossmark LUST 120 tpi, 2.1 but I like them
2,3 riddler on the back for me.
It's 3 summers old and still in decent shape. One puncture in that time
Another for ground control.
Dissector is no where near as fast rolling.
I'm using maxxis dissector front and reckon rear. Pretty tough and pretty fast. dissector is a bit like other maxxis tyres (high roller etc) but with a more continuous central strip.
Has been fine for my typical mix of old school xc, trail centres, bike park Wales and steep stuff the kids have built.
Dissector front Rekon rear in Wide Trail flavour. Noticeably faster than the classic Minion Combo with very little loss of grip and no change in toughness/resistance.
Schwalbe Racing Ray & Racing Ralph....
I'm using a pair of 2.4 WTB Rangers on my rigid 'packing bike. Light, fast rolling on the back, Light high grip on the front. Am thoroughly impressed with them in this scenario. Not super light by any means but reassuringly stable, with a sense of strength about them. If I was out to do a route like the Badger Divide with very mixed surfaces, I'd have them on rather than going lighter, like the 2.2 Thunder Burts that came with the original bike.
The usual Barzo Mezcal suggestion?
