Thinking of making the swap to 1x11 but is it worth running 1x10 for a while till cassette etc wear out,also is it easier to go with one make,ie shimano or sram or mix and match cause I do like the look of the new hope cranks???
Cranks don't really matter. Go with whatever fits the size of chainring you want. i.e. all 104bdc can take 30t and larger for 28t you'll need a direct mount ring.
Can't really answer your main question though.
Pros: One extra gear, no hacks
Cons: Different freehub body required, stuck with SRAM
In terms of mix and match, there are now lots of reports of Sram 11sp cassettes mixing well Shimano XTR mechs.
Also the odd report of shifters being compatible too, but not enough for me to be confident yet.
