Thinking of going down this road for one of my bikes and yes I admit it, I dont understand how to work out the gearing ratios...can anyone explain how please... 😳
At the mo both bikes are 3x9 lowest gearing being 22x34.
What would 32 x 40 or 42 work out to and 34 x 40 or 42.
Would it be anywhere near what set up I've got already or a big difference?
Cheers.

Take a calculator

Divide the number of teeth on the chainring by the number of teeth on the sprocket on the back.

Hey presto, you end up with a number.

Compare this number with another one you worked out for a different chainring and sprocket.

The smaller the number, the easier it is to pedal!
