Sorry guys, I know it's not MTB!
I want to run 1x10 on my CX bike.
Can anyone tell me whether SRAM Force 10 speed levers will work with a SRAM rival 11 speed 1X derailleur when using an 11-36t 10speed cassette?
I hoping that this way I can avoid buying a new wheelset and still be able to upgrade to 11speed in the future just by changing the shifter?
Thanks guys.
Yeah. SRAM 11 and 10 mix happily. I use 10 speed mechs with 11 speed hydro shifters.
Don't think it will but could be wrong. 10 spd sram mtb clutch mechs work with any 10 spd sram levers (I'm using apex levers with gx mech and xt cassette).
You can remove the lh shift paddle just by undoing a pin and circlip.
Edit : he is right / I'm wrong. It was sram 11spd mtb clutch mechs I was thinking of which have different cable pull.
Thanks guys.
Does anyone know if the 10 speed 11-36t SRAM pg1050 cassettes are compatible with rival 1 mechs?
you can also use a Shimano 11speed cassette, it's fully compatibile with sram mechs and doesn't need a different freewheel
A medium Rival mech is normal with a 32. I reckon it would take a 36 but if it didn't any SRAM MTB mech works.
A medium CX1 mech will work fine with a 36 - I use exactly that on my training wheels.
I did exactly this not long ago - but I was also trying to do it a little on the cheap and not spend CX1 type money...
In the end I used:
- Apex 10 shifter/levers (looked for ages for a LH lever that would match well, but just used the front shifter in 'redundant' mode in the end - as they don't flap around so easily like Shimano, it wasn't an issue)
- GX 10 rr. mech - medium cage
- XT 10 11-36 cassette
- KMC 10 chain
- DMR 36T direct fit chainring on old Bontrager (SRAM made) carbon cranks.
Result: budget clutch CX set up which works perfectly.
GX 10 rr. mech - medium cage
is it working well with 1x?
you don't need to have a "proper" 1x RD with Narrow-Wide pulleys?
