Sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed before but had a quick search and didn't find an answer.
I'm building a 1x10 setup from odds and ends, and have run into compatibility issues with cassette and rear mech.
XT 10 speed cassette with 40t expander, XT Shadow M780 mech. (non-clutch, long cage)
Mech sits too close to the cassette, even in the 'normal' sprockets, not just on the expander ring. Seems ok with a SRAM 11-32 10 speed cassette that I also had (which I thought was weird.)
Thought a goat link was the answer but it looks like it's not compatible with my mech. Longer / reversed B screw might sort it but feels like a fudge, and doesn't look like it would move the mech enough anyway.
Do I need to upgrade the mech to a clutch, maybe add a Goatlink or RadR cage? Just not sure why my mech / cassette combo is incompatible, and don't want to buy another mech if it'll have the same issue... but this is the first mountain bike I've built in a long time any my knowledge of the standards is pretty sketchy!
Anyone had similar issues and solved it?
Cheers!
