Hey guys
currently am off the bike had a fight with a tree on tuesday.... i thought i won as i snapped a 5" branch with my rib's but low and behold i seem to have a bruised rib.
anyway
got my bike new back end of december 2012, done about 30/40 hours on it since i got it, i maintain everything myself quite tech minded... but shocks/forks is something i have never dealt with on my last night i felt a noticable harshness in my front fork so thinking that it may be time to service.... and since am looking at doing the front may as well do the rear.
is there any good guides on servicing fox float 32 RL for a complete suspension novice! also seen a few mention different weights of oil.... is there something that could be done for the slightly heavier rider?
also
with the rear fox RP23 with boost valve and high volume i have seen plenty mention the rp23 shim mod.... but seen that the boost valve was supposed to fix this? would anyone still recommend this mod done to help get a more progressive ramp up as i do seem to not be able to get the rear sorted out... tried setting for sag but just bottomed out quite a lot. so added more pressure but not the rear feels alittle harsh over the smaller stuff (hence the reason i was thinking the rp23 mod) but i can't seem to find out if the boost valve really did fix the problem or if am just imagining it!
thanks for any hints tips or guides!

What about slapping a volume reducer in that puppy? Although, weirdly, my RP23 Kash BV CRC special came with a 'med' volume reducer already fitted. I replaced it with the 'Lrg' and it's helped, I'm a big ****er @ 17st
I don't think 'valving' the shock will really help unless you're not getting small bump compliance @ correct sag. It's the reduction in volume that will help with mid travel, progressiveness and bottom-out.
A good ol' fashon service will help a lot too, it's probably dry as a nuns thatch in there. Cycle the shock without the aircan, if it makes 'ANY' noise, it's got air/nitrogen in the damper, it's cavitating and it's ****ed. in which case, you'll need to get it to MOJO, LoCo or TFTuned.
cheers guys will look over the links provided
as i said in the post i noticed the harshness on the forks but just thought since am going to service the forks i may as well do the RP23, asking about the mod as i wanted to know if people are finding good results modding the HV can even though the shock has the boost valve
anyone else?
I've shimmed my rp23 with boost valve, although I think it's fairly old model. Seems to work well, I did a bit of mini DH over the weekend and only bottomed out the shock when I cased a double. I used a plastic CD spindle thing 23mm wide by whatever length is required to make it just about fit around.
I think that the 2012 or 2013 model is meant to fix the issue though?
i think its a 2010 model (even tho the bike is a 2012) so i think i might shim it! i have a CD spindle staring at my atm..... 🙂 might give me something to do tomorrow since i aint riding atm.. 🙁
thanks for that chvck. did you completely remove the shock to fit it or did you do it on the bike?
only wish i had seals and oil as i would have done the whole thing tomorrow 🙁
anyone think its worth fitting the "enduro" seals over the fox ones?
