Is this bit of the bike important and will the re-profiling of the tube affect its integrity?

Not sure on the wisdom of reprofiling but replacement would fix the issue.

I had just fitted new tyres to replace the Nobby Nics which I didn't like. The new Maxxis Claw Gripper ( or something like that) have amazing grip and control letting me ride the usual trails faste and with more confidence up until the wet leaves covering a muddy root at a slight angle across the trail defeated their traction. Sliding sideways I clipped the handlebar on a tree and somersaulted flicking the bike in the air and into a tree.

As I saw the bike flying over me I was still impressed with the tyres giving me enough grip and confidence to crash quite so had and fast.

Now sat resting as the aches and pains have spread from my upper arm to embrace the whole of my torso and the lump on my leg gently throbs.

I wouldn't be happy riding that. Surely that needs a new seat stay now?

Compared to some of the insignificant little scars people panic about on here, that's quite impressive. And on a tube that's in compression, so yeah, I reckon that'll fold properly sooner or later. I'd not chance it personally.

As the beam that transfers the suspension movement to the shock, I'd also be thinking that'll go sooner or later. Hopefully later though as I bet Scott don't have any lying around to sell, and when they do it'll be the wrong colour

I went out yesterday, snapped dropper lever during a minor fall, the stub cut my shin quite deep and left some aluminum in there.....

With your skillz WCA you should be able to fix it easily.

Here's what I'd do.

A) Contact Scott for a replacement
B) Ride the pants off it whilst waiting for the replacement

A man of your new welding prowess would easily be able to add a bit of steel* in there :).

* Yes I know it's an alloy frame

Just zip tie a bit of 4*2 to it as a quick fix.

That however is world class broken.

Thats dead, the only thing I might consider short term is filling it with foam to give it some support. Might even blow the dent back out. Did I mention its dead?
