Road ride tomorrow morning. Starting 2013 with some hill sessions. That attitude should last as long as a gym subscription!

Stupidly agreed to an 8am ride, but now glad I did. Only an hour or so but it's a beautiful morning, first ride on the road bike in 3 weeks or so and still got the rest of the day. Happy New Year!

I was gonna go round the Pentlands this morning but it looked a tad too windy. I don't mind rain but hate the wind. Its supposed to calm down tonight so my first ride of the year is gonna be a night ride!

Lovely morning, what you call a 'nice' ride. Had fun watching the youngest rider trying to beat the racers for signs.

I was only half looking forward to a few laps at Haldon weaving amongst the families and New Years resolution riders, but even though the carpark was heaving it was fairly quiet on the trails..

I embarked happily on what was looking to be an enjoyable afternoon, my legs weren't even finding it too hard to haul my Xmas belly around..

Then the steering went vague on the forest road climb up towards the race course.. a puncture was the culprit, but of course, with it only being a trail centre and not 'proper' mountain biking, I hadn't brought any spares, so a long walk back to the car was the order of the day..

😳

Already done a 3 hour ride over the South Downs - set off at 07:00 in order to see the sunrise just after 8, then had a fantastic swoopy run along the clifftops near Beachy Head followed by a "bracing" climb out of Birling Gap before heading back to the car for coffee and waffles.
13 miles of South Downs loveliness in the first sunshine of 2013, with good mates.

Just chilling before heading to a friend's house for dinner.

Did a few laps around the new stuff at Phillips park. First ride after reading bits of a skills book, managed without a doubt the biggest air of my life - bring on 2013!

Family OAB local pootle ride - typical Scottish Hogmany - sun, snow, rain and wind all in one ride...Freezing cold, but worth it.

Quick 20 miles on the road bike, thought i was going to have a heart attack on the first big climb but then started to enjoy it.
Still hate riding in the wind but glad i got out. Now lazing on the sofa feeling A) slightly smug & B) slightly terrified at my resolution to do a 100 mile ride every month this year...

Beautiful day and a lovely ride up into local hills. First sunshine of 2013 and I feel fresh. 😀
Then;
[IMG] [/IMG]

No spare link in my pack and frustratingly 1 link away from being able to single speed it(had a chain breaker on my mini tool which I did have with me). Had to laugh, first 'event' of the year 🙂

50% of the return trip was coastable/pumpable so not too bad.

3 rides already this yr! First coming home at 2.30 this morning. Second was a quick 20 miler on the road bike at 9am which was suprisingly ok (suprised how many roadies out, but it was a lovely morning), and topped off with a ride across town to Newnham playground and a cafe with the family this afternoon.

I enjoyed a couple of hours on the road bike round the north cotswolds, lovely to see the sun and some blue sky after the incessant rain and wind of the last couple of days.

3 hour road ride with friends - a somewhat hungover affair 🙂

Tired legs and not enough sleep, but it was good to be out on the bike. Here's to a great year of riding!

The sun finally came out, I'd abandoned the truck at my mates after a drunken party last night so decided to go back for it cross country to try and fix the hangover, a lovely day and excellent new year 1st ride.

This view back down the trail toward Saltwood Castle, nicer ridden down than up, but it's part of one of my regular loops.

18 miles in the FoD in the bag. First time riding my own mountain bike in months (have borrowed a demo from work a couple of times, mainly ridden road though) and was great to be back on it.

Trails were of course muddy, but had held up surprisingly well in places I thought. Wet tree roots aplenty though.

Just over 20 miles round some local trails for me.

Surprised I made it that far after almost chundering all last nights drink on the first very small climb.

I think i need to stay off the beer for a while. 😳

anyone worked out the ratio of road to off-road rides in this thread?! A gentle 30 mile road pootle for us (munqe chick recovering from 24hr vomiting bug) on near-deserted back roads. Then back to spend £150 in the Cycle Store sale and £50 in the Evans voucher stampede. Hopefully wont be maintaining this miles/pound for the rest of the year 😯 😯

So far, were distances are quoted in each post, the totaliser stands at:

Off Road: 152.1 miles
On Road: 229.42

Ratio 1.508 to On road

(but many of the off roaders don't quote distance travelled, whereas most of the roadies do, so probably closer to 1.2 to 1 in favour of On Road)
