can cope with MTBing in the snow, but I hate rain.
Chicksands in a few hours
Yep, trying to convince eveyone it's bed time so I can get up in the morning!
Road ride tomorrow morning. Starting 2013 with some hill sessions. That attitude should last as long as a gym subscription!
May try and get out tomorow....
I'm already biking, in my garden.
Going for a run in 5 hours. Cycling is for losers.
See you in the carpark down there tomorrow Paul!
🙂
I've just had my first bike ride of 2013, admittingly it was across the town to see in the new year wi my folks and wish them a happy new year, all of 1.5 miles at the very most - still counts though eh?
I'll be off to my local 7 stane, Kirroughtree t'morns morning though, 😀
Probably off up to the village shop to get some yoghourt and bog rolls (!) via some very gloopy local trails......oh the joy.
Does my mrs count. 😀
Waiting for signs of daylight before heading out on my road bike. Roads should be nice and quiet.
Riding to work in the cold, dark and wet at 7.25am. Not motivated at all, but needs must! (Strava starts today :P)
Meeting club mates at 8.30 for a very gentle 40. Porridge then out. Still half asleep though.
Out in Ringwood forest at 8am for my first ride of 20 miles then home.
Drive to Lymington then sea front, ride to Mudford, coffee and poached egg on toast.
Then ride back to Lymington.
Prob about 50 miles total.
I'm waiting for the warmer and drier roads.. Mrs Weeksy down with a bit of poorly so watchin Tintin with my lad 🙂 I'll be out before 2pm though.
Waiting for the missus to get up so i can get ready and go out for a ride at bedgers. Got to drop a telly off first though, hoping the bike fits in the car with the telly!
9am start for me.
Mrs in work until 8pm - so long roady ride around Brecon/Abergavenny.
And its not raining!!
Urggggghhhhhhhhh and I wasn't drinking I-(
Thur night!.... darkness bekons....
Arghhhh its not raining here for once but i buggered my ankle at Hamsterely yesterday and its still the size of a small balloon!
Stupidly agreed to an 8am ride, but now glad I did. Only an hour or so but it's a beautiful morning, first ride on the road bike in 3 weeks or so and still got the rest of the day. Happy New Year!
off on the pseudo fat bike in a minute, it will "different"
I was gonna go round the Pentlands this morning but it looked a tad too windy. I don't mind rain but hate the wind. Its supposed to calm down tonight so my first ride of the year is gonna be a night ride!
Off to Ashton court later, fat bike or fixed 29er is the question..........
Off out at 12.Local 25 miler,Mud and very wet trails.
Sun is shining and its not raining....Yet
Just been down to tescos on my cross bike. Lovely morning. Wish I could get out for a proper ride today.
Swaledale
I'm going out on the road bike & for the first time in ages it's not raining!
Just back from a lovely 3 hour road ride on a glorious sunny morning with no traffic on the roads. 🙂
I've had an hour in Leigh Woods, that's enough for 1st January with a hangover.
Lovely morning, what you call a 'nice' ride. Had fun watching the youngest rider trying to beat the racers for signs.
I was only half looking forward to a few laps at Haldon weaving amongst the families and New Years resolution riders, but even though the carpark was heaving it was fairly quiet on the trails..
I embarked happily on what was looking to be an enjoyable afternoon, my legs weren't even finding it too hard to haul my Xmas belly around..
Then the steering went vague on the forest road climb up towards the race course.. a puncture was the culprit, but of course, with it only being a trail centre and not 'proper' mountain biking, I hadn't brought any spares, so a long walk back to the car was the order of the day..
😳
Just had a real good 2hr blast on local trails, goodbye hangover!! Came back to my house through town centre and was amazed that there were shops open and loads of people shopping 🙄
Already done a 3 hour ride over the South Downs - set off at 07:00 in order to see the sunrise just after 8, then had a fantastic swoopy run along the clifftops near Beachy Head followed by a "bracing" climb out of Birling Gap before heading back to the car for coffee and waffles.
13 miles of South Downs loveliness in the first sunshine of 2013, with good mates.
Just chilling before heading to a friend's house for dinner.
Did a few laps around the new stuff at Phillips park. First ride after reading bits of a skills book, managed without a doubt the biggest air of my life - bring on 2013!
No bike ride for me today but did get out for a trail run this morning, got to see the sun rise, very pretty it was too.
First ride and first crash of the year.
Black ice near end of ride.
A&e four stitches and no riding for a bit.
Family OAB local pootle ride - typical Scottish Hogmany - sun, snow, rain and wind all in one ride...Freezing cold, but worth it.

Quick 20 miles on the road bike, thought i was going to have a heart attack on the first big climb but then started to enjoy it.
Still hate riding in the wind but glad i got out. Now lazing on the sofa feeling A) slightly smug & B) slightly terrified at my resolution to do a 100 mile ride every month this year...
Beautiful day and a lovely ride up into local hills. First sunshine of 2013 and I feel fresh. 😀

No spare link in my pack and frustratingly 1 link away from being able to single speed it(had a chain breaker on my mini tool which I did have with me). Had to laugh, first 'event' of the year 🙂
50% of the return trip was coastable/pumpable so not too bad.
Quick lap round Cannock Chase, happy days.
22 miles in the bag for me.
20 miles up and over the Long Mynd a couple of times for me closely followed by 2 cups of tea and a big sticky cake. Thats the 1st resolution broken already!!
9 miles. Local. Just made it in before the inevitable rain.
Thur night!.... darkness bekons....
Quick blast round Swaledale.
3 rides already this yr! First coming home at 2.30 this morning. Second was a quick 20 miler on the road bike at 9am which was suprisingly ok (suprised how many roadies out, but it was a lovely morning), and topped off with a ride across town to Newnham playground and a cafe with the family this afternoon.
Tag-alonged my son up boxhill on the SS while my wife complained the whole way. 7.92 miles.
The sun was shining, hurrah! Lovely little pootle. 🙂
I enjoyed a couple of hours on the road bike round the north cotswolds, lovely to see the sun and some blue sky after the incessant rain and wind of the last couple of days.
46 miles via Perth on the road bike. Nice and bright but the back roads were frosty/icy in the shade.
3 hour road ride with friends - a somewhat hungover affair 🙂
Tired legs and not enough sleep, but it was good to be out on the bike. Here's to a great year of riding!
The sun finally came out, I'd abandoned the truck at my mates after a drunken party last night so decided to go back for it cross country to try and fix the hangover, a lovely day and excellent new year 1st ride.
This view back down the trail toward Saltwood Castle, nicer ridden down than up, but it's part of one of my regular loops.
New Years Day Madison Cross for me, rolled a tub (again) but fortunately the tire on my spare wheel was better.
30 miles on the road - honestly thought I was going to have to stop for an emergency poo as I had baaad bellyache 😳
(nice weather though)
A cheeky 20 odd miles down NCR7 to Balloch and back on the singlespeed today.
Nipping up to Comrie Croft with some mates for a proper bike ride tomorrow.
14 miles on the road bike, got a KOM so a good start to the year!
18 miles in the FoD in the bag. First time riding my own mountain bike in months (have borrowed a demo from work a couple of times, mainly ridden road though) and was great to be back on it.
Trails were of course muddy, but had held up surprisingly well in places I thought. Wet tree roots aplenty though.
Just over 20 miles round some local trails for me.
Surprised I made it that far after almost chundering all last nights drink on the first very small climb.
I think i need to stay off the beer for a while. 😳
anyone worked out the ratio of road to off-road rides in this thread?! A gentle 30 mile road pootle for us (munqe chick recovering from 24hr vomiting bug) on near-deserted back roads. Then back to spend £150 in the Cycle Store sale and £50 in the Evans voucher stampede. Hopefully wont be maintaining this miles/pound for the rest of the year 😯 😯
Rode to the seaside for an ice-cream seeing as it wasn't raining 🙂

So far, were distances are quoted in each post, the totaliser stands at:
Off Road: 152.1 miles
On Road: 229.42
Ratio 1.508 to On road
(but many of the off roaders don't quote distance travelled, whereas most of the roadies do, so probably closer to 1.2 to 1 in favour of On Road)
Ugh - another (35 mile) road ride here. Was all my fragile head could stomach, but too nice a day to miss out.
Roadies and their miles, ' Dude you rode a bike on the road' who even cares?
"Nice bit of road was it?' Tarmac well groomed?
FFS.
Got out this afternoon for 12 miles up into Wykeham forest. Winter bike got through 3 tubes on Sunday so I was riding the backup and trying to avoid anywhere the hedgecutters have been recently.
