oh dear...really not feeling fit this morning 😕 ..got the usual bad stomach and nervous feeling and i only entered for a "laugh" 🙄

Pre road the course last night and now regret it. The event is the dragon XC at the Rhondda heritage park, starts with a chest pain climb followed by a really technical short sharp climb then the downhill starts....
now when i rode it last night i recognised it as the downhill track that i used to cr*p myself going down on a 8in travel bike...
All the more fun when you sliding down it on a 100mm hardtail with speed kings at 45psi 😆

So my plan has gone from trying to get a decent finish to avoiding a trip to A&E

that was my first ever race in about 1993 on that course , i was front of the pack at the top and after that downhill, way to technical for me, i was nearly last, good luck

Run better at 45psi recomended is 50psi! see thread a few days ago.....

Anyhow ...job done, downhill was no where near as scary after i walked it and was actually awesome fun to belt down in that sketchy bum up, head down kinda way, climb was a killer though!

Should have pushed a bit more at the start and let the first 5 riders get away a little to much then lost time with traffic on the 1st tech downhill.
Kept consistant lap times though and made up ground as they flagged leading to a 3rd! and a podium 😀

Time to move up a catergory next time

Sod recommended pressure, I ran my Speed Kings around 35, generally run Schwalbes around 25-30 now. Tubeless admittedly. Good result though.

Ran them at 35psi today and they squirmed a bit on climbs and when i was in the big ring on the flats.
Only 2nd time i've ridden the race bike this year so will keep trying pressures..also only the 2nd time i've ridden gears in about 2 years 😯

Very strange...kinda liked it

Nope, Evolution ones run as tubeless. Got my first flat in a Rocket Ron last week, serves me right for riding it on a debris-strewn tow path! It sealed though, I waited a couple of minutes and rode on.

Otherwise never flatted one, and I've not really used anything else for the last 2 years!

Squirmy but grippy for me here..also 10.5 stone on a 21lb hardtail so don't weigh alot. Like them though, might try my Racing Ralphs next

what you weigh ?

im 12 stone and i had 8 punctures in 3 rides (all pinches at 45+ psi) and since going tubeless 3 punctures in 2 rides (rear one was a rock sliced into the tire and rhe front burped when carving across some hill side..)

rocket ron evo 2.1s .

now comparing that to my 1.95 small block 8s run last season where i can count on one hand the number of flats i had ...

12 stone trail_rat?! Surely not...

Do you run tubeless? I really need to sort mine out, ghetto style.

Congrats on the race result, don't think I'll be getting a podium this year.
