I saw this ad on Craigslist...
Miguel Indurain signed bottle of 1999 Mumm Cuvee Napa - $1000 (Shadyside)It is what it says. Make offer, have cash in hand, and it is yours. Too lazy to take a photo. It is unopened. Purchased at an auction in year 2000.
Is there a market for $1k wine with bike riders handwriting on them?
well the content doesn't seem to get above $80 and it doesn't look like 99 was even a good vintage!
Sports memorabilia is a funny thing there are probably a few rich cycling fans who would go for it but you really need 2 together to get any real market for the stuff.
These things are sometimes bought at a charity auction, where they go for an inflated price because its a good cause. It might well not be worth that much. Also pretty surprised that there's no photo, considering the price and the fact that its all about the signature!!
That's cheap.
Restaurant here has a magnum of 82 Petrus for a medium size car price.
Well, '82 was an outstanding vintage, so that's understandable! As above though, sporting memorabilia is a totally different beastie. The quality, or lack, of the wine isn't relevant.
In several Bordeaux region shops you can buy empty bottles from the likes of Petrus of varying vintages - many would cost more than I've spent on a bottle full of wine - just so you can display it as though you'd drunk the stuff
(or refill it and dupe your guests - maybe that's the plan)
