Got a pair of 2008 Rockshox Rebas which need a service as the lockout doesn't work. Guess it is going to cost me approx. £110 to get them serviced. Have forks got a lot better in the last 7 years? Would I be better buying some new Rebas for approx. £260 instead?

If they just need a service, get them serviced. If you want to upgrade then have a look at what's available, I'm guessing they're 1 1/8 straight steerer for a 26" wheel? I had a similar problem earlier this year with a set of 2005 Fox 36's, got a bit of a shock at the lack of choice so I ended up upgrading them with a later cartridge.

If they're 1 1/8 steerer and 26in wheel, then service them as you'll struggle to get new ones anymore.....
